Have a look, do you agree?

Who do you guys and girls (I'm thinking of you MrsB and others ;)) were the most overrated players of 2008?

Interesting to see that someone mentioned Ronaldo..
Wonder if some people outside of Liverpool might think the same about Torres, now it doesn't mean he isn't world class but maybe the tag of "best striker in the world" is a slight exaggeration. Especially to people who don't support us.

He IS the best striker in the world. The only striker who's at Torres' level is Eto'o.
Gabriel Agbonlahor. He's a decent player and has a good goalscoring record this season but I think generally he's a player making the most of his physical attributes not football skills.
His control is often embarassingly bad, see West Ham away on saturday where he was 1 on 1 with the goalie and mis controlled. His way of beating players is kick and run, no skill involved. I just dont think he's very good, and if he joined, us or Utd where teams are camped in their own half home and away he'd be pretty much useless.
Thats not to say he wont improve in the future and if he ends this season with 20 league goals and 20 next then i'll change my mind but at this current time I think he's a very mediocre player on a hot streak.

Who is actually rating Berbatov at the minute? No one surely? Therefore he isn't over-rated. Agbohnlahor is the sort of shout this thread is looking for.
Him and Diarra.
actuall ygood shout about Diarra, cant see where on earth Real thought he was worth 20mill
Yeah Diarra has to be up there.
Micah Richards is showing signs of turning into the new Titus Bramble.

Yeah, Berbatov … and Terry – Carvalho is the key figure in Chelsea's defence, not him.

:handshake:
I thought Fabrigas was a good shout. Billed as one of the best in his position but he doesn't take control of games enough imo.
I think Fabregas is outstanding, but he needs a minder. His problem are the players around him in the current Arsenal team. Although at the moment his main problem are his knee ligaments, obviously.
Also continuing with the Citeh bashing
Jo and Dunne...

I agree. Fabregas is a fabulous attacking midfield player who can do a job deeper. I do not think that he can be validly criticized for not being the type of player that people want him to be.

The fall from grace of Dunne and Richards has been baffling to observe.
The Jo signing is just amusing to be honest.

yup, last season they were immense. I can understand Richards to an extent as perhaps the hype has gotten to him, but Dunne?
as for Jo, well, hmmm.
Also Elano seems to have suffered a lot this season
