Thought this worked alright in the summer as a reference topic, and seeing as silly season is only days away now I thought we might as well reprise it. By all means please point out any omissions, inaccuracies or potential additions. :)

Seeing as Jan is likely to be less busy than the summer and there should be less names on the lists I've tried to include a few notes on the players mentioned.



Potential Incoming Transfers

It is unlikely Rafa has much money, if any, to spend in the next month, aside from anything made from sales, so anyone expecting us to have a busy month is likely to be disappointed. That won't prevent the usual slew of media rumours however, and its still possible we might try to strengthen for the title run-in.

Put him in as a tenuous link as it seemed to surface with a ludicrously high price tag of £9m and then vanish - I'm suspecting it is a resurrection of the rumour from last January.

Thanks for that mate ...as for the linked players ... I'll pass on all of them .. Lets aim to keep signing Alonso type players ..

Maybe downing ... I'd be happy with Amir Zaki .. quite happy with the squad we have for now

Of the players we've been linked with, only the 2 Brazilians would excite me, and the chances of actually signing them are seriously remote. Them and Kuba, who could be the missing link on the right.

Unfortunately (imo) the most likely activity currently is Pennant out & Heskey in. :sigh:

Kuba, for me, would be the missing link for the team as a whole. He has the pace and directness that we still don't have on the wings (even though Riera is doing a fantastic job out on the left). I wouldn't drop Kuyt from the right necessarily but Kuba would give us a different option. I also think that Kuyt can do what Heskey would in theory be asked to do and more. The signing of Kuba might even wake up the sleeping giant that is Babel.

San Jose have joined Athletic Bilbao, his old club, on loan for the rest of the season.
If he can get some games with them there must be something about him.

Lindfield failed badly at Chester didn't he? I don't have much hope for his Liverpool career. Why are we loaning players to Accrington? What will that achieve?

Depends where they are in their careers. For Lindfield I assume it is to raise their profile and value in terms of selling them to clubs at that level. Very few have money to spend on players so have to be sure before making signings.

Victor Palsson who turned 18 on January 1, 2009 is Liverpool's lone signing in the January transfer window thus far. He is a midfielder of good standing and had successful trial in Liverpool of October of last year. He's an Icelander, a first team footballer for Danish side AGF and had 4 goals in 22 matche



AGF Aarhus are delighted with Victor Palsson's move to Liverpool.

"First of all, I am happy on Victor's behalf," stated AGF sports director Brian Steen Nielsen in a press release.

"It's a great opportunity for him and naturally, we don't want to block the way for him.

"Of course, we regret to lose a talented player, but on the other hand, we have got a good deal with Liverpool."


He's gone straight into the reserve squad, came on as a sub in their last game against ManU.
