something like that? :D
Oh, and yeah, blatantly almost everyone would take Zaki over Heskey, but methinks there might be a minor cost difference.....

Kevein Davies over Heskey. Heskey will flop here again if he joins.

Of course people would want Zaki over Heskey - as Mr Michael said, the sudden rush of his services and the flooded market inflating the price would also be a problem. He seemed like he was mates with El Zhar when we played them this season. :source:
You can only hope that Villa makes a fantastic offer for Heskey.
He is simply not LFC standard, not even as a late option off the bench.

Could not agree more. He cant shoot and used to feign injury when he lost the ball here. He does not have the character to play for us.

i honestly used to think, yep thats him out for a few games only to be ready to play next game.
lacked bottle, lacked skill, lacked flair and touch. bringing him back would be such a backward move.

yup have tried to think of positives if he came, but cant think of any. We have Kuyt in that role already and it'd be a bit of a kick in the teeth for El Zhar and Hammil as Heskey will be pushed wide right.
ID rather a shit sandwich than Heskey.

He did his little limp too, when his no. came up for substitution.
He feels he need a managers love to succeed. And seing as Benitez is well known as a touchy feely kinda guy....

I think I will shed tears if we bring Heskey back.

He's left footed and only ever played on the LW for us and England. With Babel and Riera their I find it unlikely he will get a game on the wing.

I really think that a lot of the opposition to Heskey comes from memories of how he was used by Houllier as much as about the player himself. If he comes then he has been selected to give us the big man up top option, but importantly to give one who is mobile and capable of more than standing up top and waiting for the ball to come to him.
Recently Rafa has shown that in tight games he likes to use width the break teams down. It seems obvious to me that adding width will be a better option with a big target to hit in the middle. Heskey would IMO also work well as a partner for all our other forwards (possibly Heskey - Kuyt would be bit lacking in goals but would make a lot of chances I think).
There are possible negatives to signing Heskey including the effect on the morale of Keane but I think they are outweighed by the possible positives. I think at the minute we have found a good balance to the team but we still need a way to alter the way we play in tight games to turn draws into wins. At the minute we don't even have the option of bundling on more forwards as there is a tendency for the players we have to want to make the same runs at times and consequently our play becomes congested.

Heskey is not what we need for a title push.
Agreed. I'd take Owen for a couple of mill though, he could help us bag the chances that are going beggng at the moment. Ideally I'd just like Babel to show us what he is really capable of and save us all the bother.
Was chatting with my bro the other day and we were saying how great it would be to nab Henry on loan for the rest of the season. Might have been possible last season as he wasn't playing that regularly but I guess not now :(

I wouldn't take either of Zaki or Heskey.
Zaki looks to me to be one of those one season wonders who hit a purple patch earlier in the season. All he has scored in the past few months is a couple of penalties. I don't think he has the quality to sustain a high level of performance and goalscoring over an entire season.
As for Heskey, I really, really don't want to see him in a Liverpool shirt again. I can see where dww and some of the others are coming from in terms of having a physical player, a plan B to come off the bench to change things for us. This is a decent idea but I really don't think Heskey is the right player for the role. I have too many bad memories of his blundering performances in a red shirt under Houllier to trust him again.
Some will point to his remergence on the international scene and his form for Wigan as indications he has improved but I don't buy it. His international recall has more to do with the fact that England's striking options are incredibly thin than anything else. As for his Wigan form, there is no denying he has done well for them, but I can't help but feel a club like Wigan is Heskey's true level - a mid to lower level Premiership club where he is not under instense scrutiny and pressure to perform each week. I don't think he has the right mentality to play for a big club. His head goes down too easily and many times he doesn't use his physical attributes especially effectively.
I suppose I should suggest an alternative. If we are going for that type of player I'm not really sure there are many around but if we are just going for a new striker I would take Owen over him anyday. We don't need anymore non scoring strikers - we already have two in Keane and Kuyt. We need someone who can come on and stick the ball in the net and also score a few if/when Torres is out injured. Heskey isn't that player for me.

No, I pretty much agree with you and you make a good point about how we're all thinking of how Heskey was used by Houllier. He was very poor for much of his time at the club but, although I can't entirely understand why, he seems to be doing OK for Wigan and, arguably of more relevance, England. I agree he'd fit in well and give us an option we don't have...and also didn't have when Crouch was at the club.
As for Heskey and Kuyt, I cannot wait to see the reaction on here if and when they're picked to play together. :shake:
