Yes the youngster screwed up;BUT, it was a "possession return" after a one-sided dropped ball by the ref following a player being down. Wouldn't the sporting thing to do be to allow us to level straight from the kick-off? Maybe any other team...

Ah, sounds like it, yes.Originally posted by Scratch View PostDrop ball, they kicked it back to us, our keeper gaffed and it went in...
In my opinion, that's just poor play from the keeper, and the opposition had no reason to let us score. Our mistake, not theirs.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

"Out of the ordinary to say the least, Blues striker Scott Spencer sportingly lofted a pass from just outside the centre circle to Hansen in the Liverpool goal after the Reds put the ball out of play so Emmanuel Mendy could receive treatment for a knock.
But rather than controlling and resuming the play, Hansen completely missed the ball and it rolled through his legs and across the line to give Everton the lead. What started as a piece of fair play ended up giving Everton the lead.
Taking everyone by surprise, that goal will surely be a prime candidate for 'A Question Of Sport's' 'What Happened Next' - if the cameras picked it up, that is."

I hadn't seen the incident till Marc posted the link but I'm inclined to agree with you. Drop ball situations like that should not be played back at goal where there is any chance of a goal being scored. ie the ball should be kicked passively back into the 18yd box , not hammered at goalOriginally posted by redtone View PostYes the youngster screwed up;BUT, it was a "possession return" after a one-sided dropped ball by the ref following a player being down. There's sporting and there#s making a mockery of a match. Our keeper messed up, to contrive an equaliser from the kick off would have been a complete farse.Originally posted by redtone View PostYes the youngster screwed up;BUT, it was a "possession return" after a one-sided dropped ball by the ref following a player being down. Hammered may of been a sliiiiiiiiiiiight exagerationOriginally posted by andrewces38 View PostI wouldnt say it was hammered ,it was truly a shocker by hanson ,I watched it live and it was a pass to him he just cocked it up Tim Flowers style
but my point is that they are not entitled to any scoring opportunity from our sporting gesture. End of really. The fact that the keeper made a hash of it shouldn't even come into it IMO.

And their sporting gesture in return was to give it back to our keeper. Once they'd done that, it was all fair...you can't blame them for a keeper cock-up. Rather than blame the opposition for something that wasn't their fault, we should blame our keeper for something he could have controlled...should have controlled.Originally posted by SB View PostHammered may of been a sliiiiiiiiiiiight exageration
