I wasn't wholly defending Benitez. It's just a fact that we are missing so many chances and certain players need to do a bit of self motivation.

When it's a one off game, I'll agree, but it's been occurring all the time. That can't be a coincidence. The same for us conceding soft goals.

It has to be said, our defence is ****. Absolutely ****, and if it wasn't for us keeping the ball 70% of the time, it would have showed a lot more in the goals conceded stats. Actually it does show, look at how many goals we concede against inferior sides compared to mancs/chavs. It's ****.

Simple answer to that is, Times have changed a lot since then.

I can see how people could attribute blame to Rafa for the general slump in our form, but I don;t really see what he's done wrong today compared to the players on the pitch, who have been dreadful.

He set them up fine (apart from Skrtel at right back but I see the idea), and we were fine until that ridiculous own goal. After that the players lost their heads. Plus Elzhar and Kuyt missing blatant chances. Alonso has been dreadful, Babel useless, and Gerard unfit.

I think to answer that you have to ask why do we still have the likes of Kuyt and Alzhar not only at the club but starting in our last chance to save the season game? Its the fact that Rafa has spent £130m in 5 years and has to rely on players of this lack of quality when only Torres is injured. The blame for this situation lies squarely at the feet of Rafa.

Alonso's has a tough time this season, you know the bit where he found out Rafa was trying to sell him and bring in Barry.

Babel, well, he has been poor after looking very good last season...but then Rafa hardly played him at all for the first half of the season, giving him bit part roles.

Rafa has to take the blame for almost all of this. Its February, we're out of the premiership race, a carling cup tomorrow for the mancs, the FA is lost and we're left with the CL.

Pathetic. Most probably yet another season with feck all.
