According to the BBC, there were 42,550 fans at the game tonight. What is the maximum capacity at Anfield? I thought it was almost 44,000. Why wasn't there a capacity crowd at a game against Real Madrid? Were there any ticket or capacity restrictions in place?

There is always a reduction in capacity for European games. The front couple of rows or so are used for advertising.
