Alvaro Negredo Refuses To Rule Out Liverpool Move

Goal.com (http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2009/04/14/1209112/alvaro-negredo-refuses-to-rule-out-liverpool-move)

http://i.media.goal.com/g/43850_news.jpg

Alvaro Negredo today refused to rule out a move to Liverpool by asking 'Who wouldn't like to play alongside Fernando Torres?'

The Almeria striker is widely believed to be leaving the Spanish club this summer and plenty of top teams around Europe are thought to be interested in securing his signature.

With Liverpool lacking an international class striker to play up front alongside Torres, Negredo could be just the solution, and speaking to El Almeria, he was coy on the subject.

"Who would not be happy to play for such a team as Liverpool alongside Fernando Torres, considering their form in the league?" he said.

"I would like to test myself there, but it depends on Real Madrid [who insisted on a buy-back clause when he left the Bernabeu for Almeria] and I have no idea of what is going to happen. At the moment, I am focused on Almeria, who gave me the chance to make my league debut."

Certainly the striker has plenty of admirers around Europe and his form this season has been superb for Almeria, nearly earning him a call-up to the Spain squad.

He admits that he is prepared to wait for his chance to play for the national team and looked at some of those ahead of him in the pecking order.

"I am grateful to be spoken about by the coach. Only a few are chosen and I would like to be in the list, but one must be patient, because these things come with work and effort," he explained.

"[David] Villa is small, he has quality and plays well off defenders. [Fernando] Torres has incredible power, [Dani] Guiza is ready and willing. I think that perhaps I am more like Fernando and Joseba Llorente because we are big and know how to play with our feet too."

I think as much as a partner for Torres we need a viable alternative to him. His injury record this season and even at times last would indicate it would be a very sound idea to have someone to step in either to rest him or replace him when injured.

Keane might be a proven Premier League striker but he couldn't trap a bag of cement and any striker from Spain is more or less bound to be a better footballer, have a better touch and better awareness than the hapless Keane

That music is really annoying! He looks like he's got the physical attributes to make it in the Premier League, he seems powerful and his height would be useful around the penalty area. Lovely volley for the free kick.

Reds join Negredo chase
Liverpool eye move for highly-rated striker

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Almeria star Alvaro Negredo, who admits he would love the chance to move to Anfield.

Skysports.com can reveal that Negredo is on Rafa Benitez's list of targets for the summer.

Negredo has been one of the real stars of La Liga this term with 19 goals for unfashionable Almeria.

In his two seasons with Almeria he has now bagged 32 goals and his exploits have not gone unnoticed.

Fulham made an unsuccessful effort to sign him in January, while Aston Villa are also keeping a watching brief.

Liverpool are now ready to make a move for the player, although his situation is somewhat complicated in that Real Madrid have first option on him until the end of June.

He was with Real Madrid - albeit mainly their second team - before he joined Almeria, but they inserted a buy-back clause of £4.4million which they are now likely to activate.

This will mean they can sell him on, with reports suggesting they would want £9.8million and it seems Liverpool would be willing to pay this sum.

Negredo, at just 24, represents real potential and Benitez is keen on taking him to England.

Liverpool interest

The player himself has revealed that Liverpool have made contact.

"To play next to Fernando Torres at Anfield is a dream and any player would accept that," he told skysports.com.

"But I prefer to talk about reality and I have not spoken with Rafa Benitez, but I do know that some contact exists between the clubs."

Negredo concedes that Real Madrid will ultimately decide where his future lies.

"My future depends on Real Madrid, but I believe that this summer I will be out of Almeria," he continued.

"I am grateful to Almeria because they have given me my chance to play in the Primera Liga.

"But it is logical that I am interested in playing in the Premier League and especially Liverpool.

"I believe that playing in England would be a great chance for me as this league is a sensational place for forwards."

Yes he has to. But apparently Real would only want him back to sell at a profit and from what ive read they will sell him to us for 9 million quid, which is ok with the goateed one. Looks like he could be coming.

If the option is with his club, and assuming Real don't still own his registration, there is no way he will be bound to join them or stay. The option will only give them permission to talk to him exclusively. Slavery is not legal in the EU and you can't buy and sell someone's services without them having the ultimate decision.

Negredo set for Anfield exchange deal
442 Staff - Today, 12:08 [FourFourTwo] (http://fourfourtwo.com/news/spain/31954/default.aspx)

Real Madrid are believed to be ready to offer Liverpool talented striker Alvaro Negredo in an attempt to lure Xabi Alonso to the Bernabeu this summer.

The 23-year-old has bagged 32 league goals in 64 outings for Almeria since arriving from Real Madrid's B team in 2007, with the youngster's form leading him to be linked with Rafael Benitez's side in the past.

The Madridistas have first option to re-purchase the Spanish U21 international during the close-season for a bargain £4.4 million.

However, Negredo could now form part of a £25 million deal that would see the striker relocate to Anfield, with Alonso heading in the opposite direction.

"I've not spoken with Benitez but I know some contact exists between the clubs," said Negredo.

Bit of confusion on his price from what I read.

I think if he came from Almeria directly then between £4-6m. But Real Madrid have a buy-back clause so if Almeria get huge interest in the lad then Madrid will probably buy him back cheap and flog him off for a lot more.

I think that's the jist of it anyway

I'm not sure that Owen could do any of the things Torres does for us tactically anymore. He could offer a goal threat but he would need the rest of the team to do a lot more closing and creating and wouldn't stretch them as much.

Negredo open to Reds move
Striker weighs up future at Real

By Lucas Brown Last updated: 11th June 2009 [Sky (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_5374255,00.html)]

Alvaro Negredo has revealed that if he is forced to leave Real Madrid then Liverpool or Valencia would be great destinations, but his first choice is stay at the Bernabeu.

The 23-year-old striker has been bought back by Los Merengues after two years with Almeria and there is some confusion about whether he will stay or be sold as part of another deal.

Reports have linked Negredo with an immediate move away from the Spanish capital, but the player himself wants to show that he could be the forward that Madrid need if he is given the chance.

"I am delighted that they are going exercise it because my dream is to triumph in Madrid," he told AS.

"I still do not know what will happen, but the fact they have decided to buy me back is testament to my work over the last two seasons that I feel has been good.

"Now I want to stay with Madrid.

"He [Florentino Perez] called me to tell me of the intention to exercise the buy-back clause. He told me to rest and that when I returned we would see what happens.
Option
"My first option is to stay, but we will have to see how many forwards there are at Madrid. For a player like me, who comes from the youth team, it is difficult to win a place.

"What I need is to play games and I want to be able to do that with Madrid."

Valencia are reported to want Negredo as part of a deal that could see David Villa head to Real Madrid and the young striker would not object if the Mestalla was his new home.

"If I do have to go then Valencia would a great option. They are a big club and they have Unai Emery as coach, who I had a great relationship with at Almeria," he continued.

"Whatever happens, if Madrid do not want me I will not see myself as a bargaining chip for them to use.

"Technically they may think that, but I would not see myself like that because I will go where I think is best for my career.

"It would hurt a bit. The club has spoken about having more Spanish players and for the time being they are showing me respect and that means a lot.

"But if they decide to sell me then I will not leave with any problems."

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Negredo and while he has not hidden the fact he would like to play with Fernando Torres, he is not pushing for a move to Anfield.

"I have already said that I think that is a great club and it would be incredible to play alongside Torres. But I prefer not to talk about that, because for now I am a Madrid player," he added.

Liverpool bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo

Rafa Benitez has made a £6million offer for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Negredo – but faces competition from Valencia.

Cash-strapped Valencia want Negredo, 23, to be part of any deal for striker David Villa, who is a £35m target for Real.

Madrid sold hitman Negredo to Almeira in 2007 but exercised a £4m option to re-buy him – even though he is likely to be sold this summer.

Liverpool boss Benitez believes Negredo has huge potential but might only be able to land him by making Xabi Alonso available to Madrid.

Included in the deal for Villa apparently. Plus 2 more players i think.

With Spanish teams only allowed to submit 25 players eligible to play in the domestic season we should be sniffing around their squad. Apparently they think they can raise 90 million euros with a quick firesale. So who'd you take?

Robben, Huntelaar, Sneijder?

Gago, Van der Vaart, van Nistelrooy?

Negredo is a good player, but not too fussed it looks like we'll be missing out on him. Looks like he'll be off to Valencia along with Granero as part of the Villa and Albiol deal.

Talking of RM players. I know most people don't rate him, but I'd love to have Rafa van der Vaart. Amazing player from a technical point of view. I'd take Sneijder too or Robben too if the price was reasonable. People complain about not having "great" options off the bench or alternatives in the squad like other big teams. Guys like this would definitely give that.

Puts to bed the rumour of Alonso to Madrid for £30m plus Negredo and Bueno then....

Zapater

Unfortunately it doesn't. I'll just quote my post from the other thread.

Well, yet again journalists have jumped the gun. Latest news is that Valencia have broken down negotiations as they were only offered 25m and Negredo for Villa which was deemed unacceptable, and rightly so. Valencia are notorious for not wanting to sell players to Madrid (anyone remember the Ayala saga). madrid seem unwilling to make an improved and fair offer, so word has it that they're going to make a bid for Diego Forlan instead.

Also, I've heard some rumours that we may sign Bueno regardless of moves for Negredo or/and Alonso in an isolated deal. I remember that Bueno, along with Granero and Mata were rated as top players for Real Madrid's Castilla. Mata and Granero have become fantastic players for Getafe and Valencia, so hopefully that means that Bueno will make just as much impact if he were to join us. Although, at 21 now, I haven't really heard of him for some time
