View Full Version : New manager?
So what good managers are available that we should be looking at after today's debacle.
Incidently Delaney should be walking the plank with Stan.
Alan Curbishley, a man with plenty of experience gettin the best out of average players.
Or Joe kinnear.Knowing the FAI though we'll end up with Bryan Robson.

Stephen Kenny
Dave O'Leary
I thought Staunton was a ludicrous appointment at the time and now it looks even more ludicrous. To ship five goals to Cyrpus is seriously woeful.

When the job first came up O'leary said he was too young and the time wasn't right.8 months on I'm sure his tune will have changed as he's on the dole now but I don't rate him.Aside from leeds where he spent a bucket load he's done fuck all to deserve a shot.He has proved he's pretty clueless when his hands are tied and can't buy players so international management wouldn't be good for him.Look at what Martin O'Neill has got out of the same players that O'leary nearly had relegated. We need someone proven to work miracles with average players.
On the face of it he sounds like the usual FAI appointment so we'll probably get him

It was most definitely a ludicrous appointment. I feel sorry for the guy.
Brian Kerr made plenty of mistakes, but why get rid when you don't have a ready made replacement? The FAI just fucked him over without having any idea of the future or of who they would replace him with .
And as for the cost - Staunton earns something like €100,000 p.a. more than Kerr, and if you factor in the cost of Bobby Robson (est. €250,000 p.a. excluding medical bills) you have another stunning example of buffoonery from the FAI.
I don't think David O'Leary is the answer at all, FWIW.

I agree but surely he can't do any worse than Staunton!
He has top level experience with Leeds & Aston Villa whereas Stan came directly from a fucking sidekick's job at Walsall
He has top level experience but what did he do with it.One champions league semi final and take Villa into the heat of the relegation battle. He's another no hoper. I think Stan should go but not before his replacement has agreed to take over before the next match. He was never first choice but the FAI panicked when each of the targets on their list told them to fuck off, starting with O'Neill.Delaney never liked Kerr and he wasn't his appointment which is why he was elbowed but it shouldn't have happened unless they had and understanding with someone near the top of their list of replacments that they'd take the job.Kerr wasn't perfect but the point of a change in manager is that performances and results improve, not bloody nosedive because you couldn't get the right man. FAI should rename themselves Fucking Useless Arseholes of Ireland.

Just get any old Irish fella and just tell the media and the masses he's a top fella who've they've kept under wraps for years.
The theme here seems to be it has to be an Irish bloke.Personnally I wouldnt care if it was Osama's postman as long as he can do the job.

Ronnie did an excellent job managing in Cyprus. Took Olympiakos Nicosia to second in the league and qualified for Europe for the first time in 30 years.
He also won the cup in Greece with unfancied Panionos and got them to the quarters of the Cup Winners Cup before they were smashed by Lazio about 7-0, the year LAzio won it under Errikson I think.

he did have a good team going at Leeds... plus, he couldnt be much worse than Stan either.
The objective would be to improve on what you already have which rules him out.I read today Thomas Sorenson slating O'Leary's Aston Villa tenure saying, amongst other things, morale was non existant. He acheived something similar with leeds after his book came out and after he blames everyone but himself for bad results.

A Leeds team that he fuct up and look at villa. Young players on a learning curve bullshit.
Nobody could be any worse than Stan.
You are kidding?
I was actually :p
But for some reason people have taken it on board.
For me, he's done nothing as a manager. He had bundles of cash at Leeds and did quite well, but you can't buy players at International level.
He did nothing at Villa.
I heard on the radio this morning that Curbishley has been touted as Robsons successor. That would be the best move that the FAI have made since invoking the Granny rule :D
I agree. He'd be there to step in when Stan eventually gets the bullet

wouldnt mind Aldridge taking over.
I think he could do a better job than Stan easily.
