What's your favourite football stadium (apart from Anfield obviously)

I must confess that I'm a bit of stadium geek. I love football, and I'm interested in architecture.

I went on a tour of the San Siro last week and I thought it was an amazing place. My expectations weren't high as I've not really liked the look of it on the telly, with the stands far from the pitch, separated by the moat. I have to say though, that is it probably the best stadium I've ever been in. It ****s all over the new Wembley.

Would have loved to see a game there, but AC Milan Vs Juventus was predictably sold out.
    Oh I don't know.

The Olimpico, though my view of it is probably clouded as I was in it for Lazio - Roma which was the most incredible atmosphere ive ever seen. And despite the running track the views from front, middle or back are absolutely brilliant.

The Bernabeu is, without any shadow of a doubt, the most impressive football stadium i've ever visited. It really is awesome.

Better than Wembley, Emirates, Millenium etc etc.

Havent been to San Siro or Nou Camp yet, but i will.

Nou Camp for me. I did the stadium tour the day before we played them and when I emerged to see the pitch, it literally took my breath away. Staggering. Yes, it's decrepit in places and the tunnel is an absolute ****hole, but what a place to play and watch football.

In 'the real world', I used to love the Baseball Ground. I also quite like Bramall Lane - a horrible, hostile place to go as an away supporter but it's a throwback. Like going to a game in the 70s.

I went to Nou Camp for a game a few years ago. When it is full, it is pretty amazing, but as a building, it's starting to get quite rough around the edges.
              Oh I don't know.

Exactly the same with the Bernabeu mate, i did the tour - but managed to lose the rest of the tour party (only about 8 people) and wandered off on my own - all the doors in the ground seemed to be open because they were taking food/drink deliveries for the game later that night. So i just wandered around, virtually ended up on the pitch

I was eventually stopped just before entering some kind of VIP enclosure - i just played the 'foreigner card' and pretended i couldnt understand what was wrong, before trotting off quietly.

                    I didn't see your post.

                    Didn't do the tour - I wish I had.

The dressing rooms were off limits in Milan last week - some sort of private function, so it was just the main stand and AC Milan end (and museum obviously).
                    Oh I don't know.

Definitely. It was full when I went – about 98,000 I think – and initially it was fantastic. We frustrated them though and the atmosphere first went quiet, then grew restless, then got tasty with the nearest Barca loons, then they turned on their team with about 10 minutes to go (it was 0-0 FFS) when the entire stadium, bar us lot up in the gods, started waving white hankies. An amazing sight.

Talking of old grounds, I used to love going to Plough Lane. Watching Dalglish and Rush play at a non-league just up the road was amazing.

Dortmund, since they filled the edges in holds 84,000 with a 20,000 all standing sudtribunne (The Kop) is awesome on matchday when sold out which is most weeks, £12 gets you a ticket on their kop and they bring the beer to you, no need to even move.

When I went to the Nou Camp 3 years ago, it was their last home game of the season, against Espanyol, and they were picking up the trophy at the end of the game. Can you imagine what an atmosphere there was? Awesome.
