View Full Version : Hull's bid for Campbell accepted

Manchester United have accepted a bid from Hull City for England Under-21 striker Fraizer Campbell.
Hull have been given permission to discuss personal terms with Campbell after agreeing a reported £6m fee.
Campbell, 21, scored 15 goals to help Phil Brown's to promotion in 2008 during a successful loan spell at the KC Stadium during the 2007/08 season.
He spent last season on loan at Tottenham as part of the deal that took Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford.
Brown was keen to sign Campbell after Hull were promoted but missed out when the player joined Spurs.
Campbell, who has seven Under-21 caps, started just one Premier League game during his time in north London and only made one brief appearance in the final three months of the campaign.
A number of clubs have reportedly shown an interest in signing him this summer.
£6 million!!??
Bloody hell

I thought he was touted as the future of utd though, one of the players brought through by Fergie that would do them justice for years to come.

well if he has a couple of good seasons and looks the part united will just 'take' him back at will
£6m!!!! Fuck's sake, that's what it means being champions; he's untrusted at this level and it's an enormous fee.
Everyone is touted like that and United are happy with it as it raises players profile and price. We need to get a few players having successful loan periods at decent clubs. At the minute it is often too big a risk for us to give them much first team exposure as we don't have the options to allow us to carry players very often and loosing momentum can be a big problem.
Campbell until last year (when he did sod all for Spurs) and Foster seem to have gained glowing reputations from basically a single season of decent Championship play and the fact they are at United. I can see why in that United have been producing a lot of PL quality players in the last few years but I don't think it is something we couldn't aim to emulate.

:handshake: Suppose it helps having 'media friends' to constantly sing the praises of your young talent, whether proven or not.

Voronin's ponytail plays against him. I reckon that puts down his value at least £3m. The last ponytailed player I remember of dates back to the times Newcastle were title contenders.
Absolutely ridiculous price. My opinion of Phil Brown has completely turned around. He's an idiot
