View Full Version : Sir David Healy Appreciation thread...
Knocking if over a defender, latching onto it, outpacing another defender, coolly slotting it past the on rushing keeper, from an tough angle. All part and parcel of the living day legend that is Healy (in green and white).
Three recent goals to put Spain to the sword, and an international career haul of 24 in 53 games!
Highlights of tonight's game here...

Another good performance all round I thought.
So altogether now.....
'Weeeeeeee're nat Brazil, weeeee're Nooooornnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Iiiiiiiiiireland' :D

Healy has a fantastic strike rate at international level, especially considering we don't score a lot of goals. Also the quality of the goal he scored last night and the ones against Spain were superb! He just always looks a threat for us.
Also thought young Clingon and Steven Davis in midfield were superb last night and very assured on the ball.
The role Steven Davis has should not be underestimated. With him, and Aaron at the back (once played football with by the way) we have a real strong spine to the team!
Watching the interviews after the game, it struck me a lot of the boys are actually Northern Irish!! While previous teams could have been a mixed bag of English hand-me downs, while they've done a job the passion some of these lads is almost tangible - credit to Sanchez as well.
Shame the other results didn't go our way. But i'd hope for third in this group, with a large slice of luck can we dream?

Agreed, Healy has done startlingly well to have a strike rate like that for Norn Iron. Tbh for the last 2 decades (since '86 really) the team's been a bit of a joke, its great to see them now restoring some pride to Northern Irish footy

I'd be very surprised if a prem team doesnt go in for him in January.

He's never transferred his international form to club level. However i would love him to move to Spain, as apparently there are quite a few clubs following his progress since the Spain game.

shame he never has, as he does have the ability, its there for all to see. Havent heard anything about the spanish looking at him but could be a good move for him.
Did no harm with Olde Gerry. Bit of a legend there.

Did you? I don't live far from where Aaron's from(grew up) actually and my Dad's mate is a close mate of Aaron's Dad.
Aaron was a Liverpool fan as a lad:D
Yes :D
It was at under eighteen club level. A mate told me after he was signed up by Newcastle that we played against him. I was a RB in that team. Don't think he felt a tackle of mine :(
Bump! :crackoff:
In anticipation of tonight - COME ON NORN IRON!!
he'll get on the scoresheet for cert tonight!

I've gotta say fair play to Norn Iron :handshake:
A qualifying win is important no matter who the opposition is and Healy just keeps banging them in. :handshake:
See you in Switz/Austria next year neighbours :D

Let's hope so :handshake: It would be a fantastic Green and White invasion if we both made it! I still dont really expect us to qualify but no matter what happens it's been a fantastic qualifying campaign.
Great result for the Republic last night too. It really sets them up for a good crack at second in their group now (assuming Germany will win it, but you never know)
Good luck and see you in Zurich!!

Nice one Slim :handshake:
Last night was a great win for us against a normally decent side. Our creative play from midfield was excellent IMO. Reid and McGeady were fuckin' brilliant for us in MF. Even that gobshite Keane played well :D Although to be fair their keeper did help us by being a bit shite :haha:
It seems the team is gelling now and hopefully we can take the form from the last few games into the next few qualifiers
I'd love to see both Irelands qualifying - It'd be a good final :D
