Portsmouth make £3million offer for Amr Zaki.

Portsmouth have made a bid to sign Egyptian star Amr Zaki, skysports.com understands.

The 26-year-old striker is currently back in his homeland with Zamalek, having spent last season on loan at Wigan.

He made a huge impact in the first part of the season, before falling out with the club and he returned home without a permanent deal.

The likes of Aston Villa, Liverpool and Real Madrid all showed a strong interest last year, but now the player could be offered a route back to Europe by Portsmouth.

Pompey, through new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim, now have some money to spend and they are believed to have lodged a £3million offer for Zaki.

They are now in talks with Zamalek and are hopeful of concluding a deal before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

would be a bargain at that if rafa could sort his head out
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I think his only problem was that Wigan had first option on him and he wanted to join a bigger club. He's acted a cunt and it's backfired.

He would be ideal as backup for Torres.

In a situation like this, those yanks should ****ing release the funds. It's chicken feed compared to what the cunts are happy to borrow, and whether they care about the club or not, they need it to be as successful as possible.

Zaki would be a tidy bit of business for £3m. Even a loan move would do.

If we could get him to change his name to Snoogy Doogy I am sure we would get the funds

Maybe but knowing our situation, there's no way we'd be able to afford the Deed Poll fees.

Steve Bruce called him the worst professional he's ever worked with. No ta.

He's not even that good anyway, just had a hot streak.

He tried to engineer a move to a bigger club, and it back fired.

Pompey bid turned down anyway, though the clubs still in talks.

Portsmouth have had a bid rejected for Amr Zaki, according to the player's agent.

Pompey lodged an offer for the former Wigan man as they look to bring him to Fratton Park before the close of the transfer window.

However, Zamalek have snubbed Portsmouth's overtures as they look to keep the Egyptian international in his homeland.

Zaki's representative, Nader Shawki, says Zamalek have shunned Portsmouth's attempts to sign Zaki on a permanent or loan basis as they have no plans to sell him.

"Portsmouth have made an official bid for Zaki, but Zamalek said they wanted to keep him and rejected any possibility of his exit," Shawki told FilGoal.com.

"Portsmouth offered three different solutions for Zamalek to get Zaki.

"They offered £3million or £2.5million plus 50% of the next sale to buy him permanently. They also made a £500,000 loan offer, but Zamalek aren't ready to sell."

It is understood, however, that talks between the two sides are ongoing as Pompey look to thrash out a deal before Tuesday's deadline.

If Pompey don't make a bucket load of signings today I'm going to stick a few bob on them getting relegated. Nailed on, IMO

                              Lol, really?!!

I was just thinking of the quality they're letting go and have let go in the last 12 months (Johnson, Crouch, Kranjcar (sp), Defoe, Taylor and now possibly James)
