I think this story is tabloid BS. A story has come out of no where that we have £12m to spend in January and all of a sudden Pandev is available for £12m?? I wouldn't bet on this if the odds were 1000-1.
Rafa will not be getting money to spend in jan
What kind of strker is Pandev?

What kind of strker is Pandev?
He's left footed
26 years old
He's scored 48 in 159 games for lazio.
he plays as a forward or attacking midfielder
I don't know much about his "style".
Thanks UKF.
Is he fast? Big? Strong? Good in the air? A physical/tough king of attacker? Has anyone actually seen him in a few games?
Robbed from Wiki
Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all showed keen interest, however Pandev decided to remain in Rome, until his contract expires in 2010.
On 26 September, Goran Pandev officially filed for a termination of his contract with Lazio, being excluded from the squad and labelled as a 'rebel'. This is after Lazio refused to accept lower then 19m for him.[6]

Goran Pandev Rescinds Contract With Lazio - OFFICIAL
The player's lawyer Mattias Grassani confirmed the Macedonian's application to break free from his terms with the Roman side has been accepted and he is now able to join another club...

Lazio striker Goran Pandev has rescinded his contract with the club with immediate effect, and he is now able to join another team after the Lega Calcio's contract dispute resolution chamber ruled in favour of the Macedonian on Wednesday afternoon.
The lawyer acting on behlaf of Pandev has confirmed the decision.
"Our application has been accepted and Pandev has rescinded his contract," Grassani told Sky Sport Italia shortly after the decision.
"Lazio have been ordered to pay the player €160,000 in compensation as well as legal costs.
"We received a fax from the Lega and it has confirmed the rescission with immediate effect.
"Pandev can now negotiate with any club he likes, but that will be dealt with the agents. In anycase, he is no longer tied to Lazio."
Reports have claimed a number of clubs including Inter and Juventus are after the player.
Lazio have not issued a statement on the outcome of the case just yet.

and by the way, what about his argue with lazio president...

Of course he will. His track record is second to none in that instance. Luis Garcia, Torres, Morientes, Johnson, Alonso, Riera, Agger etc ... all flair players in the same league as Heskey.

Liverpool were last night mounting a major effort to sign former Lazio striker Goran Pandev on a free transfer next month in a bid to boost their flagging season.
I understand the highly-rated 26-year-old Macedonian has become the number one priority in the January window, with Kop boss Rafa Benitez desperate to increase Liverpool's firepower in the second half of the season.
And the Spanish boss is prepared to sacrifice unhappy Dutch attacker Ryan Babel in a bid to balance the books - with three other Kop stars also heading for the exit.
Andriy Voronin, Italian defender Andrea Dossena and Swiss international Philipp Degen may be allowed to leave as Benitez shakes up his squad for a win-or-bust battle for a Champions League place.
Pandev has just won a legal battle with Lazio who refused to sell the striker for less than £18million .
In September he officially filed for a termination of his contract after being excluded from the squad and labelled a rebel by the Rome club. Dispute But an Italian court has ordered Lazio to terminate Pandev's contract following a payment dispute and they were also ordered to pay him almost £150,000 in punitive damages as well as the legal costs.
That ruling alerted Liverpool who were already on the striker's trail - and Benitez has urged managing director Christian Purslow to find the cash to finance a deal with the hitman wanting around £95,000-a week.
The departure of Babel could pave the way for Pandev's arrival with the Dutch star a possible target for Manchester City and Blues winger Martin Petrov set to leave with Tottenham his ideal destination.

if he's terminated his contract, why do we have to find money to do a deal?
if he's unattached, shouldn't we be able to sign him now, today?
Because he wants high wages, and we basicaly can't afford that. :sigh:

I can't see Voronin having many takers in January, maybe Babel but Benitez will want more than what clubs will want to pay, might have to bite the bullet and sell at a loss IMO.

While I'm not sure that Voronin will fetch a good fee and have his wages paid I would thing we could get one or the other. If someone like Pandev was available on a free then the wages part might be as important as getting in a fee right now.
I think we will look to maximise the value of Babel by using him in swap deals. We may have to accept a highly structured fee instead though.

He sounds a bit of a mercenary type though. How would that go down with rafa's squad ethics.
Does anyone know the exact circumstances of the fall out? Although the courts have ruled in his favour so he must have been in the right.
He was on £8000 pw at Lazio and despite being promised a better deal, it was never delivered. Last summer they put him on their transfer list but were asking ridiculous amounts despite there only being 12 months left on his contract. He was then frozen out of the squad and has been training on his own for the last few months, not really surprising his contract got terminated.
According to Macedonian sources, officials from Liverpool met with Pandev at the weekend.

he has a great left foot and is a real flair player. Not sure he works hard enough for rafa though ?
Also a bit temperamental and a hothead but his quality cannot be doubted.

From Sky Sports
Pandev: Wants Inter move
..Goran Pandev has once again reiterated his desire to secure a New Year move to Inter Milan.
The former Lazio striker is available as a free agent after severing ties with the Roman outfit at the end of a contractual dispute.
He is now keen to secure a return to Inter in January, a club he left without making a single senior appearance in 2004.
Jose Mourinho is known to be keen on the Macedonia international, and has expressed a desire to bring him on board, and Pandev admits he would be only too happy to accept an offer from the Portuguese coach.
"Do you really want me to say that I want Inter? Well, I want Inter!" he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I strongly want them. Is that OK? There are plenty of valid reasons behind this. The main one is that they tried to sign me up until three days before the transfer window deadline last August.
"And I can't forget the comments of Mourinho last winter. He said that one like me should never be sold."
Atomic attack
Pandev would face stiff competition for a starting berth at Giuseppe Meazza, with Inter already boasting the striking talents of Samuel Eto'o, Diego Milito and Mario Balotelli, but the 26-year-old insists he would welcome the challenge.
"Those three represent the best that a team can have up front," mused Pandev.
"It is already an atomic attack and I hope it will be even more fearful with my contribution.
"I will give headaches to Mourinho. I can play in different roles up front and there will be room for everyone as there are so many games.
"I know that I am joining a strong side and my bet is to be decisive and score goals, even if it is just for half an hour."

HE wants to play for Jose Mourinho.
Apparantly Maxi's wage demands are higher than Pandev's (Maxi's looking for 90k per week & Pandev's looking for 55k per week). Therefore Pandev would be the better option because:
1.) We are skint &
2.) Pandev is nearly 3 years younger than Pandev...
Except that Pandev wants to go to Inter by all accounts.

And according to other, no doubt equally unreliable sources, Maxi is willing to take a large pay cut to join us.

Pandev wanted to go to inter because he has "unfinished" buisness with them, as they used him in a swap deal with lazio to get dejan stanković. he wants to prove himself there.

Livescore listed him as the scorer at first, then they changed it to Balotelli because apparently he touched the ball (that was already heading for the goal) just before the goal line.:)
So he didn't score then. He is shit aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
