If she wanted to give kids a better life maybe she could have spent the money instead on giving aid to the community. I expect she does that anyway (I'll bet you her PR people wouldn't miss an opportunity like that) but if she genuinely wanted to help then I'd have thought that would be the best solution rather than playing god by plucking one kid out of a million and dragging him thousands of miles from his biological family to be brought up in the media spotlight. The psychological pressures on that child as he grows up are going to be enormous.
