Which NFL team...
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

But Liverpool have* never been 'England's team'.
EDIT: Should that be 'has'? It looks like one of Arn's sentences when you think about it..

A genuine question. I saw some of the Raiders game last night. When I first started watching NFL I took a liking to the Raiders because AFC teams always seemed to lose and because they had something of an anti-hero status. Last night I realised that rooting for a team from southern California doesn't really feel right for me. I was thinking about which teams have something in common with LFC, in terms of support, heritage, values, etc.
I've got a couple of ideas but I thought I'd ask since some people seem to know a lot about American Football.
And Dave Hedgehog is bound to have an opinion too because he's American and is Dave Hedgehog.

However, my brother took an American Football on holiday and it's surprising the satisfaction we got from standing in one place and throwing it back and forth to each other. Over and over again.

Isn't it essentially the same as a rugby ball? i.e. ridiculous and not a 'ball' at all?

I see your logic. Trouble is, I've never liked the 49'ers. Too Californian and shiny.Originally posted by krade View PostSF49er's

Yes. But they were the Oakland Raiders before moving to LA so really they were just returning to their roots. And I quite like clubs that stick to their roots. It feels LFCish.Originally posted by Reece View PostI've never really followed American Football, but you just chose a team when you were younger and mine, like you, was the Raiders. I went off them though when they changed from LA Raiders to Oakland Raiders - thought it sounded ****. Are they still Oakland?
Yes. But (a) it's on on Sunday evening when there little else on but, usually, tediously overhyped Spanish football and (b) it's a gazillion times better than golf so stfu up.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post'Gridiron' is so, so ****.

Originally posted by Reece View PostYeah pretty much. Except it has laces. Although in this case they weren't real laces and were in fact rubber ones moulded onto the ball.
It's when you get the spin on it that professionals do, that the satisfaction is at it's highest.

Ah right, I didn't know that. I guess I'll stick with "supporting" them then. Although I do like the Dallas Cowboys' name.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostYes.
