I've never been a fan of David O'leary, always reminded me of Edward (League of Gentlemen) :D

One of the worst managerial moves in history. The fact we're still harping on about it 4 years later shows what a balls up it was. And of all the clubs for him to end up playing for just to make it worse.... Chavski and now probably goddamn Spurs
:( :shake:  :wall:

At least we'd probably get our money back on him even now, the infamous "Houllier 3" were all valueless within 6 months

yea he did make some shocking signings! but then again he did ake some awsome ones! show me a manager that dont make shocking signings?
The 'Houllier 3' has a nice ring to it. Each in their own way were/are a disgrace to the proud shirt.
Diouf - Generally a very skillful player, no pace, terrible shot, and worst of all, a repulsive character on and off the pitch. How his character wasn't flagged up as an issue before we signed him, I'll never know.
Diao - Built like an outhouse, strong, mobile, good stamina, awful with the ball at his feet, a lack of composure on the ball, inability to pass to a team-mate, unless he twats the ball, picks up needless Yellow cards, has a bad hair style (but better than the joker above.)
Cheyrou - One good season (in the French league!) doesnt make a player good, joined, played decent in a friendly, got hyped up as the next Zizou, isn't quick, isn't skillful, isn't powerful, doesn't have a range of passing, and generally doesn't have the bottle for the fight. Failing at Bordeaux and Marseille just goes to show his level.

iI think it should be the 'houllier 7' cheyrou, diao, diouf, le tallec, pongolle and let us not forgget the memorable jean-michelle ferri!
eh? You mentioned 6.....
We didn't really lose anything on Ferri either, plus Pongolle is a decent enough player, and can actually play football.
Le Tallec seems to have modelled his behaviour on Anelka.

sorry forgot heskey!
sorry forgot heskey!
Heskey = great first full season, decent second season. Found wanting after that. We also got a respectable amount of money for him too. There is no way I'd lump him near the Houllier 3.

but it dose make you wonder if these players were realy deep down crap or did houllier make them that way? b4 they signed they were good players! look at diouf in the world cup he looked like a star signing! smicer, biscan ceyrou, le tallec, pongolle, baros were all touted as being star signings! kewell from the looks of it is getting over it now! i call it the 'Houllier effect'.
