    American Football on Sky

    Why?

Does anyone actually watch this? SSN seem to be pushing it constantly at the moment and I know one person who follows it, and he just loves anything american.

Amazingly, Sky actually schedule it to see if they can get five or six straight hours without any viewers at all. It's a bet between the producers.

The NFL averages 45-50k viewers on Sky, Channel 4 averages 85k. Sky has at most 10m customers and not all of those subscribe to sports and Channel 4 has access to around 50m viewers it does seem that the intrest is dying off a bit.

Still that more viewers than the Fishing gets also most of the golf and tennis gets an average of 100k viewers.

The only sports that pull in more viewers is Football the Ashes and WWE.

The Channel 4 game is usually the late on though. It would be optimistic expecting big audiences for a three hour match beginning at half one in the morning.

                  I watch it.

I tried watching that Red Zone crap for the first time last night. It was impossible.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

What's the story behind this red zone nonsense? Would much rather have watched the entire Eagles vs Giants game than be treated to something akin to a 15 year old with ADHD channel hop for three hours.

Have Sky lost the rights to the early game?

No, they chose to show the Red Zone. I think it would have been the Indy game on the box though. Apparently they're binning Red Zone off lat week because of the fan reaction. It would be okay as a red button feature, particularly late in the games to see what's happening, but not instead of the live game.

They're binning it after one week? Good. It was an unmitigated disaster.
As you said as a red button 'extra' then it'd be fine but not in place of a live game.

Anyhow what happened to the guarantee of the Bears finishing with a losing record?

Aye, the mass implosion of the Pack, Vikes and Cowboys worked out alright for the Bears. We'll see how far that record gets us in the playoffs though. Not ****ing very is my guess.

Plus, can we sack Lovie now? Probably not. So we've done ourselves again. We have an ordinary coach and a front office that can't draft. And a division that blows up and lets us into the playoffs. Great.

                            Thank goodness they're dropping it.

                              Boise-Utah tonight on ESPN.

Utes are unbelievable in bowl games. Nine in a row, including torching Alabama two years ago. But Jordan Wynn ain't playing, and on defense Boise's rush-fu is strong. If Kellen Moore goes after that secondary early and starts hitting Pettis and Young, then it could be over by the half. Utah need to hold onto the ball and dominate possession, wear that defense out.
