Liverpool were comprehensively the most tweeted Premier League team over the course of the January transfer window.
Barclays – sponsors of the English top-flight – have conducted analysis about how much the sport is discussed in cyber space and the results indicate football banter is migrating seamlessly from the terraces to the virtual world.
The social networking site recorded around a million tweets about the Premier League and the 20 clubs over the course of January, with the Reds raking almost a third of those.
The transfers of Fernando Torres to Chelsea along with duo Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll moving to Anfield, and the sacking of Roy Hodgson and the appointment of Kenny Dalglish as club boss clearly caught the imagination of tweeters, as the Reds picked up 301,169 comments.

Arsenal were second despite eventually not signing anybody over the course of the month, followed by Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
