    No.
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Yeah, probably reads a bit harsher than intended.

Out of interest, why do you care? Do you have any connections with either place, have you rowed, etc?

Same two teams make the final every bleedin year, it's a bit suspicious if you ask me.

It's the same with the Calcutta Cup. Just look at the list of previous winners and tell me something is not amiss. Corruption is rife in sport.

Why is this even considered an event? Why is it on telly? Why?

Pure ****. A load of toffs sipping Pimms and guffawing about the oiks in town protesting against the Tory cuts. **** that.

That said I found it exciting as a kid ...kinda went hand-in-hand with the FA Cup semi-final and the Grand National, as they often fell on the same weekend.

                      Are we winning?

I remember when it used to be -

                        Boat race
                        Grand National
FA Cup Semis - all on the same day.

Was quite exciting...or was i a one off?

For everyone's sake, I hope you were.

I don't recall the semi-finals of the cup on the same day - I'm sure it didn't always happen anyway.

I remember we always seemed to play at home in the early hours of the morning - it was probably about 11.30 but it seemed so early because in those days anything but a 3pm kick-off was weird.

Er......heh. I said that. Although I said the same weekend. Not quite sure about all on the same day, cos even in the 80s Cup semis were often moved to the Sunday. Definitely same weekend though, National & Boat Race, plus one semi-final I think, on the Saturday.

To me Boat race will only ever be cockney rhyming slang for face.
