Can't believe that another young player has had a cardiac arrest. Unlike Muamba though, this fella in Italy died. Shocking stuff really #ynwa
The 25-year-old received medical attention on the pitch after collapsing in the 31st minute of the match in Italy's second division - but despite attempts to save his life using a defibrillator, he was dead on arrival at hospital.
'He suffered a cardiac arrest,' said Dr Edoardo De Blasio, a cardiologist at Pescara's Santo Spirito hospital.
'Unfortunately he was already dead when the ambulance arrived. He never regained consciousness.'

The game - which Pescara had been winning 2-0 - was abandoned following Morosini's collapse, while all Italian football matches due to be played this weekend have been called off as a mark of respect.
Other players were seen leaving the pitch in tears afterwards.
Italian media has reported that a car belonging to traffic police had initially blocked the ambulance's route into the football stadium, with a window having to be broken so the car could be moved.
The footballer was given medical assistance on the pitch during the game
Pescara manager Dannilo Iannascoli said: 'I don't know if the ambulance was late, but I know that the entrance on to the pitch was blocked by a vehicle.
'Morosini collapsed, he tried to get back up but then collapsed again.'
Some players leave the field in tears as Piermario Morosini lies on the pitch behind them
Italian news agency Ansa reported that the footballer had been conscious when taken off the field but had suffered a heart attack in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
Morosini had been on loan to Livorno from Italian club Udinese, who play in the Serie A league.
His collapse comes just a month after Bolton's Fabrice Muamba lost consciousness on the pitch after suffering a heart attack during an FA Cup tie against Tottenham.
The 24-year-old left the London Chest Hospital on Friday and is now reported to be making good progress.
