The longer the Alves deal drags on, the longer I can't see it happening.

Especially with us now being so heavily linked to Pennant.

all this Alves and Kuyt stuff is really wearing me out. I wish they'd just get on with it. What's the big deal - either we can make it happen or we can't. If we can good, if not, lets move on. If we can't do a deal in 2 months, I really don't see what else there is to talk about after that. Let's just deal with the fact they're either out of our price range or going to cost more than our valuation. What's more incredible is we've been seriously attempting to sign a right winger for over 12 months. It's madness we can't make 1 deal happen. We've LFC for f*cks sake - there should be players willing to walk over broken glass to sign for us.

Iagree with you but I'm afraid the "We're Liverpool FFS " doesnt work anymore

Not that i dispute you but its a bit strange having time off in preseason?

imo, that's because too many players are more worried about their pay offs from their current clubs, than they are coming to play for us.

I think the problem is that we have had to negotiate both deals with an eye to allowing the other to still be possible. I think soon we will just have to bite the bullet and sign one or the other and accept a second choice for the other position.

The news so far this week would suggest we will go for Kuyt and Pennant.

Agree, I can't see it at this stage of the season. The time for a holiday has past.

he could of course took the family on holiday and then gone and done a bit of business. there's nothing to stop him doing both. pako runs the training, so he doesn't need to be there on a day to day basis, we've no big game coming up to prepare tactically. so there's nothing to stop him having a few days in spain with his family, while trying to tie up the alves deal while he's there.

Can't see either Kuyt or Alves coming off as neither selling club are going to fold. It was the same with Crouch and Soton; we tried playing hardball for a few weeks but eventually had to pay top dollar.

Hopefully Rafa will walk away as both players have inflated prices.

This is my first post here, so firstly can I say that this seems like a cracking site. Really relaxed and chilled out, like a football forum should be. Long may this continue.

Anyway, back on topic; here's some news from the Spanish Press:

From Marca:

Basically they say that there is nothing new, but:

And it is that, although week beginnings was indicated from England that the Liverpool, with its technician Rafa Ben

In the end of the day we all know alves wants to move to anfield as does kuyt before anywhere else, but unfortunately unless mr moores finds a few more quid under his bed we aint going to get both of them! i think the most realistic option would be to spend our money on kuyt and wait and persist with gerro on the right for another year, and try for alves next year! Alves clearly wants to sign and if hes that desperate then he should have a go at seville for ruining his chance of signing for us!

I think it will still happen

I think Rafa will sell Barragan, buy Alves then sell Kromkamp to PSV. In that order.

I think (and hope) that you may well be right mate. Seem to remember the echo saying one day that Kromkamp would only leave once the Alves deal was sorted, and the next day said that Kromkamp was told he can leave. Reading between the lines....

I still have a feeling that theres more to the joaquin speculation, for liverpool to come out and catagorically denie the roumours just seemed odd!
I've not seen much footage of alves so i cant comment on if hed be a good signing where as joaquin i have seen lots of and i think he would be awsome for us his pace would make defenders shit themselves and hes got a lovely right foot!

Aye, Joaquin is a pipe dream. Won't happen.
