Reports in Spain today claim that Liverpool are showing interest in Real Madrid youngster Esteban Granero.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been attracting interest from Liverpool scouts if you believe the reports which are very speculative.
There is no mention of any kind of informal or formal approach at this time.

apparently the origninal article (from AS i think) also said we'd previously signed fabregas from barca - so i think we should wait and see if LFC announce something - as he could well have just fucked up and typed liverpool instead of arsenal.

He does look a bit special! Cant see why he would want to leave barca though? But then again every spanish person i've met has said that spanish people think rafa is the best manager spain has ever produced and and they all want him to be spain boss! migh explain why youngsters would be willing to leave the likes of barca and real for us?

Well hopefully it is us cos from the looks of it talent like him are what we want! I've heard a lot of people on here say that barragan was a good player and that we have a buy back clause which if true is a good idea, but what about roque has anybody seen him play? is he gonna be any good? cos so far every youngster rafa has signed looks to be great signing!

LIVERPOOL have denied reports that they are on the brink of snatching two promising youngsters from La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Barcelona's 16-year-old midfielder Fran Merida - described as a playmaker in the Ronaldinho mould - was reported to be close to joining Liverpool, with Real Madrid teenager Esteban Granero close to joining him.
Granero is currently plying his trade at Madrid's B side Castilla and has impressed in the Segunda Liga, while Merida has not turned up for pre-season training at the Nou Camp, citing "personal reasons."
Mr Parry confirmed "we are aware of both players" but said that reports claiming they were on their way to Anfield were "wide of the mark."

damn shame! but then again could it be used as a smoke screen to fend off other teams! you never hear liverpool talking about speculation that comes up in the papaers but recently weve done it with joaquin and now these two! could there be more to it?

I guess that we could still be in for them. A guy on TLW seems to think that we are, saying that Eduardo Macia has identified them as the two best prospects in Spain (though I thought Dos Santos and Krikic were meant to be the best two).
But it seems strange that we have flatly denied it. You would have thought that if there was something in it, they would have just been a bit coy about things instead.
One youngster who did impress me when I saw him play for Spain in the U17 tournament was the striker who played alongside Krikic called Aar
