    First choice at left wing??

Who's going to be the first choice at left wing in the coming season then? Gonzalez/Kewell/Zenden?

With Kewell out injured and Zenden getting back to fitness I'm sure Rafa' hopes that Gonzalez takes the Premiership by storm.

    Surely Gonzales.

Kewell is injured and Zenden is a distinctly average footballer, pretty straight forward decision for Rafa I would've thought.

i think gonzalez will end up 1st choice, but i could see rafa starting the season with riise there. he won't want aurelio and another new player in front of him and will want to settle in one at a time. so i can see gonzalez starting the season either playing off the bench or perhaps as a 2nd striker.

        Good point mate!!!

But I bet Rafa can't wait to unleash Gonzalez on the premiership and I cant wait to see it!!!!

With Gonzalez, Kewell and Zenden there as left wingers, along with Riise and Luis Garcia who are able to do a job on the left wing, surely Rafa could get rid of one or two of these players to cut the wage bill and release money for new players? Preferably Kewell and/or Zended of course!

If he needs time bedding in though (speedy) then a LOT of people will be disappointed, and I'll be gobsmacked if he doesnt need time to adjust.

Ofcourse, he'll need time to adjust.

But to be honest, I'd play an untried Mark Gonzales over Bolo Zenden on the left flank every day of the week.

Oh, sent you a 'pm' by the way mate.

Given that we seem to be working with a limited budget, I'd imagine Zenden is being seen as central midfielder rather than a winger. I'm hoping that Gonzalez doesn't need too much time to bed in given the lack of pace we seemed to have last year in the team. I'm hoping Bellamy and Gonzalez and hopefully Alves will go some way to addressing the lack of pace

Zended did start in centre midfield on Saturday against Wrexham, however I can't see him getting many games in that position throughout the season barring injuries and suspensions of course.

I just think he's third in line for a LW spot and definitely at least 4th choice for the 2 CM spots

zenden because of his ability to play left wing and centre mid, is 1st choice for a place on the bench as the season progresses imo.

In my opinion with the way the transferes are going i wouldnt be suprised to see gonzalez on the right with riise on the left and aurelio at left back! Rafa clearly has a high hopes of gonzalez and aurelio and i just cant see him not playing them! Dont forget when gonzalez was at albacete he played right wing quite offten and enjoyed coming in on his left and shooting!
With the lack of cash available for players i think rafa will use the cash we have for kuyt before alves cos he needs another striker and has players who can play right wing if needed (gerro, kewell, luis and anderson).

Gonzalez. Kewell will have to improve to get his place back. I also see Harry playing more behind the strikers this season. He seems to have lost the pace that is required of a Winger.

Zenden will be used in a more central role. IMO that's his best position. He's never convinced me on the Left. His Best games at Boro and Chelsea have been in CM roles
