Just some agent talk snapped from Skysports.

The agent of Juventus striker David Trezeguet has denied reports suggesting his client wants away from the deposed former Serie A champions.

Barring a successful appeal against The Old Lady's demotion for match-fixing, Juve will begin next season in the second tier of Italian football, with a 30-point handicap to boot - a prospect that has left many of the club's top names considering their future.

Trezeguet himself has been linked with a loan move to Liverpool, while Internazionale, Real Madrid and Lyon have also been mooted as admirers of the French international, whose penalty miss cost Les Bleus dear in the World Cup final penalty shoot-out.

However, Trezeguet's agent, Patrizia Pighini, insists the player will respect entirely the wishes of his Bianconeri employers.

"The player does not have a desire to move," Pighini told GRT press agency. "At the moment his future is in Juve's hands.

"When the management make a decision on David, he will decide his own future."

Juventus coach Didier Deschamps is hopeful of retaining Trezeguet for next season but, while Trezeguet's agent insists he will adhere to Juve's wishes, the player is keeping his options open.

"Trezeguet is not discounting anything," added Pighini. "Lyon would be good because he has lived many years in France, while Inter would allow him to stay close to Turin and Real would be good because his wife has Spanish origins and he also respects Fabio Capello."

No mention of :lfc: what so ever. From the three clubs mentioned Lyon would be the most probable destination since Inter (if they get Toni and/or Zlatan) and Real are loaded with strikers.

Even thought he's a great player, he just don't seem to me as a Rafa type of acquisition with his big reputation/wage.

much as you'd like us to be able to compete with the other big clubs for the big names, you just can't see Rafa going for it. Ok, he might be available for a bargain fee but the wages would be mental, especially when he's prepared to send Cisse off on loan with no immediate fee. He must be up to something that we don't know about in the striker dept...

I think we had no choice with Cisse. We got the best deal we could - to be honest getting him off the wage bill was good work considering he had a broken leg.

I think all of this talk from Juve about keeping their players has to be a publicity stunt as there is no way without CL and with reduced TV and sponsorship deals they can keep in business if they keep all their top earners and they know it, but their posturing seems to be allowing them to get better fees. The exodus has started with Thuram and Zambrotta.

However I think we would have heard more if we had been making progress on Trezeguet, so I think Kuyt is back as striking option number 1.

yeah, Trez had smokescreen written all over him. Since when does Rafa make public statements on who he wants to sign before it's in the bag?

I would like to see us take advantage of fiorentina and make a bid for valerie bojinov! i saw a few games last season and he looks a hot prospect and hes only 21 (I thimk)! another player who could be a possibility is jan vennegoor of hesselink who has an awsome goal ratio in holland (better than kuyt)! But the one player i would love to see wearing red is klose! hes 29 (in his prime), hes a proven goalscorer and im sure if we were to bid for him he would move to liverpool rather than stay at bremen! I would have thought a bid in the region of

Klose would be a top signing, but that'd be a lot of dough for someone that age. We should have snapped up heskey when we had the chance!

Trezeguet is a great player but I don't know whether he fits into Rafa's grand plan in terms of style. He's a striker who thrives on service and other people to do his running for him. Nothing wrong with that, it works well for the right team, but I don't think that's what Rafa wants for his team. Players like Bellamy, Crouch and Fowler are hard workers, they put the running in, Morientes was the same. They're not just finishers. Kuyt is also more of a player than a goal scorer. For all these reasons I can't see Rafa going for Trezeguet. If we don't get Kuyt then I don't think we;ll sign anyone. Lets be honest, Bellamy will get a lot of games injury permitting, Crouch will get an hour a game :) and a rejuvenated Fowler will get a few games. I don't think we desperately need another striker, I think Bellamy will do a job.
If the right player is available (say Kuyt) Rafa will go for him, otherwise, we'll make do.

Just my take on it.

I'm not sure we can rely on Fowler and Bellamy to be fit for a whole season. Last season our problem was scoring goals - to go into this season without another striker would mean that we feel that Crouch/Garcia/Fowler are going to significantly improve their goalscoring from last year. I can see the argument for Fowler but not so sure about the other two.

Agree, I think we still need another striker too. BUT Trezeguet is a player I've never actually seen have a genuinely good game. I know he has a great scoring record but I worry he'd just be another Morientes

I really think he could have been the answer, I haven't seen that much of him but when I have the things he has done have been decisive. Having said that I think we have been priced out of a deal. I think it would have been done now (i.e. when Zambrotta / Thuram went) if we had the money.
