Thanks for the info.
If we get Alves I will be thrilled (and relieved) and on paper I would believe the squad to be complete.
However, while not doubting the abilities of Bellamy and Fowler (cos they are awesome) I fear that they will not be able to stay fit for a whole season, so I am hoping Rafa has a striker hidden up his sleeve.
Just lifted this version from tribalfootball (yeah I know but the translation is too hard to understand)
Sevilla expect to sell Daniel Alves to Liverpool this week.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's persistence is expected to see a deal struck for the Brazilian in the coming days. The Premiership giants have offered
From AS, Sun 23rd July:
ALVES COULD MOVE TO LIVERPOOL THIS WEEK
This week could finally be the one that marks the definitive destination of Daniel Alves. The gap between Liverpool's offer (13m euros with 2m dependent on clauses)
and Sevilla's 18m euros asking price could be overcome this week after the insistence of the Reds manager to secure the Brazilian.
During the last three weeks of apparent standstill in the negotiations, Liverpool's Madrid-born coach has been in regular contact with several people close to the player. He is keen to confirm the player's excellent reputation off the pitch (as he is sure of his on-pitch talents). The reports have all hailed his faultless teamwork.
hopefully this one comes off but i'll be surprised if it happens this week.
its has to happen this week as i believe Seville will be jetting off for a tour in Japan on the 28th so any possible deal will have to be in place by then in my opinion.

Agreed. I reckon he'll be ours this week, finally. I wanna see what the fuss is about with him!

so if he hasn't signed by the end of this week then i assume that we can put this one to bed?

thats my take on it mate, Rafa will want his squad together asap and with the world cup players returning to training on Monday he will want to wrap up any deals quickly and when Seville are in Japan negotiations will be alot harder etc. and i am sure Rafa will have learnt from the Figo saga.

hopefully we get our man this week then. i like transfers tied up quickly but there's a certain sense of satisfaction when you evntually land a player after a long drawn out chase.
this piece of news about alves is the most believable to date because it never includes the word, "tomorrow".
