Finally... we have news that US Soccer will name Jurgen Klinsmann as the new Manager of The USA Men's National Team. He has been my personal #1 choice since Bruce Arena decided to play such negative football during the World Cup. I hope Kilnsmann can help develop some great players, because we need talent, ability and goals in the worst possible way. Too bad he can't suit up...ha.
Anyway, good news for the USA.

Well he lives there anyway and managed the German team by phone mainly!

Arena was hardly alone in playing negatively at the World Cup. I think he did a good job for the USA but it was time for a change.
I think Klinsmann is a good choice in the sense that he will evolve the style of football you play and also seems to be very keen to seek advice and thinks deeply about tactics. He isn't such a good organiser of a defence though, which might prove a problem in the long run.

I just hope it helps the game here in the States. And teach the guys to play better. Make me proud of them.

I have felt for a very long time that we need an infusion of European coaches. I never played beyond high school level where I had an actual coach, but tactical training was non existant here. They felt if they merely lined us up in a 4-4-2, that we were playing advanced soccer. Do not know if that attitude has changed in our youth programs here, but I suspect it will be my children and their generation that may make some serious challenges during the WC. I hope Klinsmann is the catalyst to changing to the proper mind-set.
