Liverpool’s Uruguayan player Luis Suárez chatted with MARCA.com readers via Twitter. "I hope to play in Spain in the future, because together with the English and Italian leagues, they are the best in the world and any player would dream of playing there," the player assured.

Furthermore, Suárez admitted that his two football icons just so happen to be Spanish: Iniesta and Xavi. Regarding who might win the upcoming Euro 2012, he said: "Spain, I think, because it is the reigning European and World champion, but I think Germany could have a good chance as well".

With respect to the rivalry between Cristiano and Messi, he preferred not to pick one over the other: "They are different players. I think they both play at a much higher level. I don’t like one more than the other – you learn from both of them and take things on board."

.
So the 2012 Player of the Season (as voted by users of YNWA, ST, Est1892, 6CM, TLW and IK) is

LUIS SUAREZ!!!.. :respect:
.
Previous winners:.
.
2005: Jamie Carragher
2006: Steven Gerrard
2007: Dirk Kuyt
2008: Javier Mascherano
2009: Xabi Alonso
2010: Javier Mascherano
2011: Steven Gerrard
.

Personal thoughts:.
.
Skrtel has been given the “official” award but looking at the table, how can that be? Now I am not denying that Martin has had a great season. He has been very consistent and perhaps attacking players get more of the limelight and because of that...votes. In my opinion though, Suarez has been the better player. Pretty much in the top 3 in each game he plays. 14 MOM awards suggest that he was Player of the season. He also missed 9 games ffs!
.
Enrique got his votes at the start of the season. Perhaps it was our great desire for him to be successful that we gave him votes he didn’t always merit?
.
Carroll got his results at the end of the season. He was injured at first, then unfit and perhaps the price tag put a strain on him. Whatever the reason, he seems to have grown into the role of striker well. He is going to be great for us.
.
Disappointments for me have been Reina and Gerrard. Reina has been unhappy at the club in my opinion since Rafa, Masher, Xabi and Torres all left. He should be sold if he is unhappy...end of. Vorm at Swansea is my target replacement. Stevie had his operation at the start of the season that was supposed to cure all his problems. He then had associated infections...all very strange. He has been quiet when he has played, not his usual whirlwind type of player...is it possible that he could be coming to the end sooner than we feared?
.
It has been good to see Flanagan, Kelly, Coates and Spearing all given a run of games...it will take them a while to come good, but particular exciting for me was the introduction of Shelvey and Sterling. Jonjo had more games and Sterling was given a taste, but I would hope to see more of both next season.
.
Henderson and Adam were disappointing but I would give them another season because of their lack of experience at a big club and their relatively young age. Downing has played in the Premiership for a long time and is late 20s. There is no excuse for him I’m afraid...he hasn’t the guts to play at the top level. We need to get rid.
.
All in all, a disappointing season but we won another trophy. It could have been 2. Many games we dominated and didn’t score.
In my opinion we just need to tinker a little...a poacher to get on the end of crosses and perhaps a creative type of midfielder/winger. We play well in patches and dominate games.
.
I am not one who subscribes to the point of view that we need major surgery to our squad. I am hoping for a couple of new signings and getting rid of Kuyt, Aquilani, Downing and Cole.

The above are my own views and I am happy to debate but we are all entitled to different opinions.
Over to you...

RVP + Hazard on top of what they've got would be ridiculous.
Is Robin Gunner leave? Manchester City are closing in on sensational £25m deal for van Persie

Big-spending City are prepared to more than TREBLE his wages to £250,000-a-week

Van Persie will hold crunch talks over his future on Wednesday and Arsenal fear he will tell them he wants to leave.

City are leading a three-way battle for van Persie with Manchester United and Juventus but it is believed the newly-crowned Premier League champions are in pole position.

Big-spending City are prepared to more than TREBLE his wages to £250,000-a-week to snap up another Arsenal player after already signing Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Kolo Toure.

Wenger has already insisted he will not sell van Persie to City for any price but Arsenal will not be able to match the contract on offer and then must decide whether to hold him to his contract or sell and cut their losses.

Arsenal's board are believed to be ready to hold van Persie to his contract - but that may be tested by City's determination and whether the Arsenal striker forces the issue.

It promises to be another painful saga for Arsenal fans after losing Cesc Fabregas and Nasri last summer and it has become clear in recent weeks that van Persie has been reluctant to commit himself long term.

Van Persie even said after the win at West Brom on Sunday that he will always love Arsenal "whatever happens" and it now appears that he is preparing the groundwork.

Arsenal have taken encouragement that van Persie has taken his captaincy duties so seriously by organising a family barbeque for the players and his wife Bouchra has also set up a girls' night out for the partners.

But even though van Persie has affection for the club and will be offered a £130,000-a-week contract and lucrative £5m signing-on fee they face a massive battle to keep their talismanic captain.

City want van Persie to be their main striker as they also brace themselves for a move by Real Madrid for Sergio Aguero this summer.

And despite van Persie giving indications he wanted to move abroad, it appears City's courting of the player's representatives may be about to pay off.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also believed to be keen but neither are believed to be ready to move in and may already be facing a losing battle with City.

Managing director Ian Ayre said: "We have always aimed to ensure that we match our commercial and financial aspirations with the interests of our fans.

"In 2011 we increased prices in line with inflation and the government rise in VAT to 20 per cent, but having reviewed the current UK economic climate and our up and down team performance we felt it important to flatten prices despite UK inflation being around 3.5 per cent.

"Our fans have shown tremendous support for the team this season, at home and away, and with long runs in both the FA Cup and Carling Cup, we wanted to recognise that commitment with this announcement today."
