City want van Persie to be their main striker as they also brace themselves for a move by Real Madrid for Sergio Aguero this summer. And despite van Persie giving indications he wanted to move abroad, it appears City's courting of the player's representatives may be about to pay off. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also believed to be keen but neither are believed to be ready to move in and may already be facing a losing battle with City.
