I think the quote was that he was turning down interviews specifically from French publications as they wanted to talk to him about how well he was doing etc. As Chris said, he apparently turned them down as he said he didn't believe he'd done anything of note yet, and to come back when he had.

although he isn't normally fantastic to watch (but he's good enough i guess), his goal-scoring speaks for itself. if you can score roughly every other game in the prem, then you are certainly good enough to play there.

and doing better than many of your more famous peers.

Haha exactly. League One my arse! When we played Leeds he scored a brilliantly-taken goal while the highly-rated Beckford demonstrated why no top side has taken a punt on him. He'd walk into every side in that division and would start for a number of Prem sides. Ridiculous.
