Barragan was homesick, we wanted to keep him but he didn't want to stay. So that was a non runner for now.

I don't think we need another first team player, even if Pongolle and Kromkamp leave.

This is our squad and the positions I'd consider playing them:

It is pleasing to finally see that Kuyt is a RED before the start of the season, he will be a hit at Anfield, mark my words lads.
But, what happens if Kromkamp is sold ? We have no cover for Finnan for the right back spot.
Will RAFA go for a youngster or will he sign another player ?
Is there enough in the coffers for a ALVES or another ?

I'd only go for a new right back if Kromkamp is sold.

Personally, I'd like to see Kromkamp stay as he could become useful if he settles. However, all the stories of him wanting to return to Holland and his troubles at Villareal suggests that he is one homesick puppy, therefore, if we can do a deal then it's best we cut our losses. There is also talk that he's a quiet lad but gets on fine with everyone at the club, but these are just rumours.

I hope Kromkamp stays as he'd offer a good experienced alternative if and when Finnan needs resting.

I haven't seen our squad so strong in a very long while and am very hopeful of success in the coming season starting from now.

I think so too, I said in a thread before that if we could get Alves then that would allow us to have an option to play 3-5-2 with wide players that can adopt the wing back roles both going forward and in defence, and as a result having players that can help change the shape we play during games if we require.

Forget about Alves, I have a good idea who it is but I really cant say. He will strengthen us though. If we get rid of Kromkamp and get this fella, our squad will be strong everywhere.

Dudek is staying, but Kromkamp & maybe Warnock(despite his meeting with Rafa) will go!!

But I think a utility player will also be brought in to cover. Alves a non-starter.
