    bonus point

is there any merit to the idea of introducing a bonus point for winning a game by 3 goals or more, for example?

It's about time we had a points revamp, so why not?

1 point each for 0-0, 2 points each for a score draw?

I would rather see 0 points for 0-0 and 1 point for a score draw, with 2 points for a win...

I actually think the idea of a point for winning a penalty shoot out after a draw is a good idea for League games.

It seems like it's likely to happen in the Lower Leagues next season

Why give teams the opportunity to play for winning a point on pens at the end, whereupon given the chance - they will. That will create 10 men behind the ball tactics. something we must avoid at all costs, goals wins matches, do everything possible to reward goals.

so you get the same for a 0-0 draw as you do for losing 8-0

Maybe England will start doing better in Shootouts during the Big Competitions

A lot of teams do it anyway for the one point on offer at present

Nah, we need to keep the 3 points for a win, more incentive to go out and win games.

I think 1 point for a 0-0 and 2 for a score draw would quite well actually.

I think they should revamp the system and award 3 points for a win instead of 2. Oh.... hang on.

If it aint broke - dont fix it!

Any other way than the way it is now, would be wank, IMO.

It would ruin football, if they start bringing out some of the STUPID rule changes that they are talking about.

What's wrong with a draw FFS?!

This guy has an interesting idea:

                        NEW FOOTBALL RULES
For me personally football is one of the world’s best inventions. It ranks somewhere between sliced bread and a mini skirt. At least for 90 minutes a week the world stops, and all of a sudden it doesn’t matter, if there’s work to be done, if the boss is nagging on the phone, and even missus has to shut up for 90 minutes a week. What other thing has the power to do that?

But even the best things in life can be improved, so almost every footie fan has an idea or two up his sleeve, how to make the game even better. I’m no exception. When I watched the game between Liverpool and Aston Villa on Sunday (March 18th), I realized that we have a lot to learn from a game that is complete opposite of everything footie stands for – chess. In chess, when two players don’t want to be bothered with the game, or don’t want to miss favourite TV show (some real TV with Paris Hilton i.e.), they can suggest a draw to the other player, and if he agrees the torture is over right there and then.

Unfortunately in footie, there’s no such rule. On Sunday everyone, watching the Aston Villa – Liverpool game surely wished, there was. It was probably the worst game ever played outside Italy. Pass completion had to be below 10%, and without about 137 passes from Carragher to Reina this percentage would be even lower. Now, I don’t know, whether it was a post St. Patrick’s Day hangover, or something else, but come on guys. It was a complete waste of time for everyone who turned to the game or watched it on telly. I hope FA will consider the new rule and allow the game to be stopped, if it gets too boring or if the teams don’t want to play in the first place. I know, I would support the idea right away.

I think this would be great!

you don't think that attacking/exciting football should be rewarded or encouraged?
