    James Vaughan

    Hope he recovers well

Young Everton striker James Vaughan has been rushed to hospital after severing an artery in his left leg during the 1-1 draw at Bolton.

Vaughan, 18, had scored Everton's first half equaliser before injuring his ankle following a clash with Abdoulaye Meite on the hour.

Meite followed through on Vaughan with both players in mid-air, resulting in a bad gash to his ankle. Boss David Moyes confirmed the severed artery, which has been successfully stitched up:

"It's a bad one, but I don't know yet what it means or what it entails," Moyes admitted.

"The doc stitched him up, and we have sent him to hospital, but I don't know what happens when you stitch up an artery, whether it's like a cut.

"Obviously, we are delighted it's not a break or anything like that, and knowing him, he will probably want to play next week because he is a tough lad."

The player was stretchered off with blood gushing from the wound, Everton and Bolton's medical staff compressing the area surrounding the injury to stem the flow.

Vaughan had burst onto the scene at Goodison as a 16-year-old, scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace in 2005 but missing most of the following season through injury after damaging his cruciate ligament.

Get well lad, sounded a lot more serious than it seems to have ended up.

Not to lower the tone, but can you imagine seeing a get well thread on bluekipper referring to one of our players?

Seen the pics on MoTD. Blood all over his white boots.

I don't know what it means either, but thankfully medical staff where there.
