I think Michael Owen hung Liverpool out to dry by engineering his move to Real Madrid for a fraction of his true value.

A year later, Real sold Owen for 100% profit. £8 million that should have been ours.

Now, I'm over the whole Michael Owen issue. He isn't significant anymore. I thank him for his goals here but I don't wish him success elsewhere and I don't sympathise with him.

I think thats what Liverpool have feed the press to make fans turn against him. You may be right but thats what I think about the whole situation. TBH nobody in there right mind would think Liverpool would win the CL the year after Owen left and Rafa took over. That made Owen look even worse because he left to win trophies.

There may or may not have been a press agenda against him but whichever way you look at it, Liverpool had nothing to gain by selling Michael Owen for £8 million.

Owen was a great player for us, anyone who denies that is an idiot. However, he's a little **** who f*cked us over and for that reason he deserves all the criticism thrown at him.

'We hope that this won't last longer than 10 days,' said manager Sam Allardyce.

              And the rest.

England striker Michael Owen is likely to miss Newcastle's Barclays Premier League opener at Bolton next Saturday.
Boss Sam Allardyce, who signed Alan Smith from Manchester United on Friday, admits Owen's torn thigh muscle "hasn't healed as quickly as we would like".

"It doesn't look as encouraging as we first thought," he told the Daily Mail.

"There's no point in making any rash decisions just to get him fit for the start of the season. It's about getting him 100% to play on a regular basis."

Owen, whose career on Tyneside has been beset by injuries, played just three times for the Magpies last term and has made just 14 appearances since his transfer from Real Madrid in December 2005.

The injury has already wrecked the 27-year-old's pre-season programme.

"It has been more disappointing for him that he's missed pre-season games more than training," Allardyce added. "He's done enough training to last him a lifetime."

The latest setback also puts in doubt Owen's participation in England's friendly with Germany at Wembley on 22 August

Seem to remember his transfer was in August 2005, quite vividly in fact.
