    Drogba to miss Liverpool game

Didier Drogba will be missing for two weeks from Chelsea after scans on a knee injury showed that it was more serious than first believed.

The Ivorian was his top scorer last season with 33 goals and offers the team its focal point. Drogba damaged the knee in training on Saturday and there are fears that he will miss not only the opening games of the season against Birmingham and Reading away next Tuesday but also the visit to Liverpool the following Saturday.

With John Terry, the captain, already ruled out for four weeks with a knee ligament injury, Jose Mourinho can ill afford to be without another of the team's leaders

That'll be me down the bookies this morning putting a couple of quid on him being fit to play against us then.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

Agreed, Drogba will play against us, no doubt about it. Terry on the other hand im not sure he will be back in time by the sounds of it. And that **** will always find an excuse, always.

Drogba back in time for Reds test

Didier Drogba should be back for Chelsea before their first big test of the season against Liverpool.

The striker has a knee injury after taking a knock in pre-season and is set to miss the first game of the season, against Birmingham on Sunday.

With John Terry, Wayne Bridge and Michael Ballack all suffering long-term problems, Drogba's scheduled return will be considered reassuring for the head coach.

Of particular importance will be the striker's return in time to play at title rivals Liverpool on 19 August.

The match at Anfield last season left Chelsea's title challenge severely dented and Mourinho's pledge to stay mellow is set to be tested by his rivalry with counterpart Rafael Benitez.

The Portuguese's patience must already be wearing thin because of his squad's injury problems, and Frank Lampard has urged him not to change his style.

The midfielder said: "I don't think Jose has to be mellow. He just has to be himself.

"He is very driven and we are all upset if we have important players not playing. But you cannot cry about it, you have to deal with it."

Salomon Kalou, Andriy Shevchenko, Claude Makelele and Claudio Pizarro are all struggling to be fit for Sunday's game, while Glen Johnson and Florent Malouda are having treatment after picking up knocks at Wembley in the Community Shield.

Well we'll have to make sure Carra gives him a good kick in the knee. Or maybe even Agger for revenge.
