BERLIN, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich have signed 18-year-old Brazilian defender Breno from Sao Paulo, the Bundesliga club said on Friday.
Bayern did not disclose a fee for the transfer, but German media have reported the Bavarians were prepared to pay at least £8.8 million for the highly rated centre-back.
Subject to a medical, Breno will sign a contract starting January 1 and running until June 30 2012.
'We're delighted about getting him,' Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said on the club's website. 'He's a young and exceptionally talented player.'
Breno will get a first chance to meet his new team mates when Bayern resume training after the holidays on Jan. 7. After this weekend's round of matches the Bundesliga is not back in action until February 1.
