Sounds like an alright guy.
Firstly Kevin, great column. Excluding current managers, if you could pick any manager in history to play for, who would it be?
Paul Cree, USA
It would probably be Bill Shankly because of what he did for Liverpool. Everyone loves him at Liverpool and he was so influential in making the club what it is today. Kenny Dalglish would have been interesting to play under as well, he is a legend.
Who was your favourite player when you were growing up and who is the best player you have ever played against?
Vince McMan, USA
Eric Cantona was my favourite player as a kid. I loved watching him, he was absolutely brilliant and I really can't praise him highly enough.
The best player I have played against until now would be Roy Keane. In all the times I played against him, I don't think I got anywhere near him - even to try to kick him! But I think Steven Gerrard is going to take his place. Every time I play against him he gets better in my eyes. He is a world-class player now and I think he can only get better for Liverpool and England.
Bolton got only one penalty last season. We have had three already this season, after only four games. Do you think the referees are stricter this season or that there are more blatant fouls in the box?
Mike Nolan, Bolton, UK
I think the penalties we have had this season have all been definite penalties, all for obvious fouls. I am not sure referees are getting sharper or stricter. At the start of the season we were told that referees were going to clamp down on shirt-pulling in the box but we have not had a penalty for that so far. Our three penalties were deservedly given and when you get penalties it shows you are doing something right in the penalty box.
Who are the toughest central defenders to play against? How would you rate Ryan Nelsen?
Sean, New Zealand
Ryan Nelsen is a very good player. He did well for Blackburn last season and got them into Europe. We were not too happy about that because they pipped us! But he is a very solid player and has adapted very well to the Premiership. I think the toughest defenders I have played against are John Terry and Jamie Carragher. When you play against them they go right through you but I do not mind that, it is great. (Edit: ooooerrr..)They are both what you could call an old-fashioned type of central defender and I really like that about them.
We all know that a lot of tomfoolery goes on with players at Premiership clubs but what I want to know is, what is the best trick someone has played on you - or that you have played on someone else at Bolton?
David Glen, England
I am afraid there are some I cannot share with the public but when I broke into the Bolton first team and went on to professional wages, I went out and bought myself a Ford Fiesta. I did not get alloy wheels and just had hubcaps. The first day I brought it in, when I went out after training the hubcaps had gone. I bought some new ones but the next day I was doing an interview for a paper and when I came out, they were gone again. This happened four or five times before I realised that I was not going to have any hubcaps so I had to go round for the rest of the year looking like a cheapskate who had not bought any. There were several suspects at the time but I think Dean Holdsworth was the culprit. I am still investigating the case and would just like to warn him that you do not forget something like that.
