    Both at home

Being an old arse, I can remember going to an FA cup game at Anfield in the sixties. We were beaten by Chelsea I think? On the way back on the ferry to Seacombe I was unfortunate enough to be surrounded by Evertonians all taking the piss because they won their tie.

Am I right in thinking that we both played at home at the same time? I know it wouldn't happen these days for safety sake never mind the television.

It is possible they had been to a reserve game but somehow I doubt it. Anyway it was reasonably good natured unlike today with all the nastiness that goes on and I remember this Liverpool supporting feller saying to me that that whoever Everton got in the next round they would be battered. Unfortunately I think they won the cup that year so possibly it would have been 66, so he was wrong.

Can some statto fill in the missing details and when did they stop allowing two clubs from the same city playing FA cup ties at home on the same day?
