Bayern Munich, the German soccer club, are in negotiations with Audi over a deal that could be worth more than €100 million (US$147.7 million, UK£90 million) to the Bundesliga side.
The partnership would comfortably exceed Manchester United and Liverpool's former world record partnerships with Aon and Standard Chartered, as well as Real Madrid's current world record deal with Bwin.
However, the agreement between Audi and Bayern is not expected to be a simple sponsorship agreement. It is thought the car manufacturer could take a minority stake in the German club as part of the contract.
"It is a package. An advertising contract and a participation," Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness told Sky, confirming: "The amount is well over €100 million."
According to Reuters, the deal is yet to be completed, but likely to be announced before the club's AGM on November 27.
