Aye, forgot about Danny. Was Pat Jennings Norn too?Originally posted by McDermotX View PostMr. Blanchflower done alright for himself in fairness.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

And I mean't that amongst the numerous cloggers that they've produced over the years they've had a pretty good keeper, Danny Blancheflower and the 3rd best player of all time (IMO).Originally posted by NigelLG View PostI meant, Marky is from Northern Ireland.
Which probably also explains Marky's love for big hardmen, who love a tackle and a bit of rough and tumble and his dislike of graceful, tricky, skillful players.

He doesn't need to be brilliant defensively, the balance of the team will sort this out. He's alright defensively as well if you ask me, just that Hodgson's defensive style didn't suit him at all as he had to defend most of the time.Originally posted by Alex View PostHe has been brilliant, still think his defensive game needs work. But he is defiantly playing some of the best football of his career. Him, Maxi, Dirk, Spearing, Raul and Skrtel are like new players under the KingAre we winning?

Stop being silly.
Aaron Hughes has been excellent for Fulham all season and formed a solid partnership with Hangeland in the last few yrs...
- just had an off night...like the rest of his team-mates.
He's had a great career in the Premier League and served all his Clubs with distinction.
You don't play almost 15 years of football in the Premier League if you're a bad player.Last edited by Rudo; 10-05-11, 11:39 AM.

I know he doesn't need to be brilliant. But Its the times he gets caught out that frustrate me, I know the CB's usually cover him so its not a problem. But Id just like to see him tighten up. I agree with the Hodgson point though. I think im still trying to shake off my memories of the team and the habits that were picked up. Dont get me wrong, I think he is a good player. One of our best, but he can be better.*Except Michael, who died.

You can say all this about Aaron Hughes, but you can't muster a compliment for our own Glen Johnson.
Modifying post.

He was mediocre for Newcastle and got bombed out of Villa for excessive ****ness. He's an average player at best.Originally posted by Rudo View Post

Glen Johnson on the other hand is showing why he is considered one of the best attacking right backs in the league. I found you're defence of Hughes quite amusing given your constant criticism of Johnson (who in my opinion is more of a proper football in the sense that he can actually perform more than one facet of the game)A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I suppose it's a bit like saying a girl 'has a nice personality'...
You know enough about football to admit that Johnson is a good footballer. Go on, admit he has impressed you. It'll be liberating for you!Modifying post.
