Right back is certainly somewhere we don't need to strengthen IMO with the emergence of both Kelly and Flanagan I think we're well covered there - LB I would still like to see a 1st choice bought in but am pretty comfortable that we have cover as and when they're injured.

I agree with the above, whilst Johnson (and even possibly Flanno, given Craven Cottage's display) can slot in at LB, i think we need a proper first choice leftback to be signed. Aurelio cant be relied upon for fitness, Konchesky isnt even a consideration and i dont know what's happening with Insua, or whether he is even good enough.
So yeah, an established left back, about whom we need have no worries or doubts, be they fitness related or experience based, would be one of my priorities, along with a creative wide midfielder or even two.
Plus a CB and a finisher for upfront

Even the most dramatic of dramatists must have been able to see that the Aaron Hughes crack couldn't possibly be serious in anyway, shape or form. I mean come on, Aaron HughesOriginally posted by Rudo View PostBit mad the way this thread went after i said Glen Johnson was a good athlete, some might say i was trying to be clever but it was a compliment.
Then i was getting accused of all sorts of **** - bigging up Aaron Hughes, indicating that Hughes is better than Johnson and all this ****e. wtf. take a look back over the thread and you'll see who brought A.Hughes up because it wasn't me. When someone was slagging him off all i was doing was defending him...nothing to do with Glen Johnson in any way, shape or form.
Few men hiding behind their keyboard acting the hard man - belittling, and nitpicking people's posts and trying to make them look as bad as possible. Maybe not having an avatar disguises it. Who knows. It's pretty weird really. why the obsession.
It as such a ridiculous tangent to go off on that even you must have found it funny. If not you should have because it was!
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Anelka or Drogba? I'd expect at least one of them to be available next season.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI think the striker needs to be a finisher, akin to the Hernandez type.
We've got the big man with physical presence and aerial threat, we've got the twinkle-toes dribbler and creative spark in Suarez, but we dont have a pure finisher who'll get the 6 yard box tap ins.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I wouldn't mind Kuyt being 3rd striker and getting in a couple of winger and maybe rotating those. I don't feel that striker is a huge priority anymore if we can get a couple of wingers. Kuyt gets all the 6 yard box tap ins!Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI think the striker needs to be a finisher, akin to the Hernandez type.

Imo 3rd choice striker would need to have a lot of experience and ability to make an instant impact, which they both would, and I am not sure that age would be that much relevant as long as they go on a short term 1-2 year contract.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostProbably be seen as too old. And i doubt Chelsea will sell to us.
The problem is that they will probably want regular football, which we cannot guarantee, and Chavs would not sell to us as you said.
Pity as I think either of them would be a great signing for us.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Judging by everything i've heard from FSG, we aint gonna be in for players aged 32 or 33. Not saying we shouldnt, but i dont think the owners are going to go down that route.Originally posted by Mostar View PostImo 3rd choice striker would need to have a lot of experience and ability to make an instant impact, which they both would, and I am not sure that age would be that much relevant as long as they go on a short term 1-2 year contract.

I thought of Kuyt but i think he misses too many chances overall, despite his current purple patch.Originally posted by acdmackay View PostI wouldn't mind Kuyt being 3rd striker and getting in a couple of winger and maybe rotating those. You could be right but it will be difficult to find the proven scorer that is willing to sit on the bench and settle for cameo appearances from time to time and fit in FSG age-value for the money approach.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostJudging by everything i've heard from FSG, we aint gonna be in for players aged 32 or 33. The other alternative could be go for Connor Wickham but if I could speculate I'd think that Newcastle could be his next stop.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Im not sure whether Kuyt is just going through a purple patch or Kenny has just learned to utilize him properly. Is this his highest total for Liverpool in a season? Between Carroll, Suarez and Kuyt as our 3 strikers we could be getting enough but if there is only 1 winger signed then I'd agree we need a different 3rd striker.

I wouldn't expect this type of productivity from Kuyt next year.Originally posted by acdmackay View PostIm not sure whether Kuyt is just going through a purple patch or Kenny has just learned to utilize him properly. Personally I don't think he'll be the first choice next year but I guess we'll have to wait and see.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
