WTF has environment got to do with it?

He came up through the ranks at West Ham, just like Carrick, Ferdinand, Lampard, Joe Cole, Defoe etc etc etc...they haven't had bad careers with this environment have they?

The fact is, you can see Kelly is a proper defender even at his tender age, whereas with Johnson the writing's been on the wall for years and years now.
I know I shouldnt encourage you but for some reason I find that statement quite funny. It was meant to be funny wasnt it?

To make a point, Johnson has been the better or our two fullbacks over the last two games and has not been exposed in the way Kelly has.

a torrid time? for a max 18 mins? and as I said before, Kewell played left,Diouf did not. I am sorry but if you really believe that then you are wrong. I believe that youa re backtracking to support your futile claim. Maybe it was a different game? It wasnt that one.

I refer you back to the point I made earlier in relation to the relative maturities of the players you've mentioned. Just because they're the same age, doesn't mean they're as grown up and mature. 19 is still a kid. Are you telling me that teenagers with £6m price on his head, playing his first game against Liverpool isn't going to feel pressure?

Carrick was 23 when he left West Ham
                  Cole was 22
                  Lampard was 23
                  Ferdinand was 22
                  Defoe was 22

Johnson was 18! And going to a ****ing high profile club!

4 / 5 years is a hell of a long time to grow up!

Bit of a modding cock up - in the opening post, Mattshark is referring to Warnock - but the thread now looks like he's talking about Johnson - and he then says "Aurelio and Johnson are both a million times better than he is."

Johnson is this years whipping boy for a lot of supporters who no doubt slated Lucas before him. Lucas has come on a lot this season, and was never as bad as some used to make out, just a young player developing in a big team. However some people need a scapegoat and this season its Glen Johnson, whose defensive game can sometimes suffer for his attacking instincts. It will be interesting to see how he progresses under Steve Clarke, who has obviously worked with him before at Chelsea.

He played well yesterday, and has filled in well at Left Back. A clean sheet away from home where we never looked like conceding in a three nil win, a solid performance from our defence.

Johnsons problem is concentration. I think Johnson finds the game so easy that he drifts out. Getting his hair cut might give him one less thing to concern himself with.

I think you are right about concentration, but I don't think its because he thinks he is so good. Some people just are not good at concentrating for long periods of time.

Amazing some are questioning a players ability after an excellent win, clean sheet and being asked to fill in at a position that isn't natural for him.

GJ as most this season have under-performed plain and simple, but we now have a real man manager in charge and he's done well since the Bodge has left as have the rest of the players.

All this crap about getting owned for 18 minutes by spit the ****ing dog when he was 18 is quite frankly pathetic, spits had a cracking career since then whilst GJ is nailed on for England at RB!
