Thanjk you.

I think you are right about concentration, but I don't think its because he thinks he is so good. Some people just are not good at concentrating for long periods of time.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Glen Johnson is a truly hopeless DEFENDER. You'll find i'm not the only one who thinks this.
Common knowledge in the footballing world. has been the case for a fair few years now.
I agree with you. He's not very good at going forward either, it's a myth.
He is the ultimate YouTube player ie. easy to make look good sticking his few career highlights in a 2min slot.
I also think he was the beginning of the collapse of Rafa, although arguably if Rafa thought Babel was good then again you have to wonder. £18m was nothing short of a disgusting and disgraceful transfer price. Obscene.
Nothing against GJ as a person, seems a decent lad, but he is a deeply average player at best in terms of Premier League quality.
A combination of poor concentration and and school boy defending has left Johnson with a lot to prove defensively, taking into consideration that he wasn't the most solid defender when he arrived the worry was always there.
It irks me the way our fans can be so negative these days though as Johnson has clearly improved 200% under Kenny and in a position that's alien to him.
Steve Clarke will know the strengths and weakness' of Johnson very well and we can trust that he will be working closely with him to improve his game.
Good to see that bloody awful barnett is gone which is a good start, how the hell you can concentrate on the game carring half a stone of rope on your head is beyond me.
Johnson is this years whipping boy for a lot of supporters who no doubt slated Lucas before him. Lucas has come on a lot this season, and was never as bad as some used to make out, just a young player developing in a big team. However some people need a scapegoat and this season its Glen Johnson, whose defensive game can sometimes suffer for his attacking instincts. It will be interesting to see how he progresses under Steve Clarke, who has obviously worked with him before at Chelsea.
He played well yesterday, and has filled in well at Left Back. A clean sheet away from home where we never looked like conceding in a three nil win, a solid performance from our defence.
Disagree. Lucas has always been a decent player but against Mascherano, Alonso and Gerrard he was always going to look second best. GJ has been rubbish since the day we signed him and has been rightfully slated - he's crap.

I think that is an analogy based purley on the last 8 months when our team has been absolutely atrocious.
Bear in mind that for an attacking full back to function properly there must be the perfect balance throughout the team hence the reason why Rafa left attacking fullbacks at the bottom of his shopping list.
Johnson will flourish in a team playing with confidence and I expect him to reinstate himself as a crowd favourite over the next few months as he was when we initially signed him.

i agree with some of your statement but i don't think johnson is "crap" to be honest....... he is englands right back - i know that england are ****e but in fairness he gets into the team in front of a few decent players.....
i think Johnson is so attacking, that he needs a defensive midfielder on that side of the pitch to cover for him and also a super centre back alongside to also help cover for him when he bombs on..... our team has been so inconsistant over the last 18 months that we haven't had the right player playing in midfield. Also, carragher is on the slide so can't cover for GJ as well as he did for, say, finnan a few years ago..........Johnson looks much better for england because he has the likes of Ferdinand next to him covering in defense and Barry in midfield covering as he bombs on.......i think he natural posiiton is the Cafu role - owning the whole right hand side of the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation - but we don't (and i don't think we should) play that way..... with Spurs linked to GJ, i actually think that Redknapp would possibly like Spurs to play that way - its maybe the only way he could get Van Der Vaart playing in a free role behind 2 strikers while also keeping modric in the team.....
I think the reason that people slate GJ so much is because he cost ****-loads of cash.....and we sold a far better player in Arbeloa for about a fifth of the GJ transfer fee.......but that's not GJ's fault......
I do think he should be played on the right hand side of midfield......and maybe kenny will do that soon......with a lot of the defensive responsibility taken away, he could do a Gareth Bale and really come into his own.......

As if to prove your point, I'd lost all interest in your post by the end of your first sentence.
Johnson has to be the most underrated player currently. Judging from some of the comments in this forum lately, you'd think he's a championship level player.
There isn't a right back in the league that I'd take over Glen. Not one.

I think a lot of clubs would be more than happy to have Johnson and Kelly competing for the RB slot.
The abuse that Johnson has received this season has been really baffling.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
I have openly critiscised Glen Johnson on a number of occasions for his poor defending but since he's been shifted to the left he has been a lot better.
Whether this coincides with the rest of the defence improving I don't know but he does seem much more comfortable on the left side than on the right. He's actually playing really well there and also seems more disciplined on that side than on the right.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."
Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.
