Speculations are that he needs a knee surgery but because of our fullback limited choices atm that is postponed for now, which if it is true could explain his poor showing over last little while.

Knee Surgery, poor form or lack of interest because of contract.. which ever one it is it's not good. We really have had rotten luck with defensive injuries this season.

funny how we struggle to get rid of our walking wounded/donkeys when a tranny window crops up.
suddenly they are all on gurneys outside zafs door...
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

We've been lamenting his lack of legs in midfield for most of the season, how's he supposed to get up and down the wing for 90 minutes every game?

it must be like a scene from M.A.S.H. down there. choppers coming in every few seconds

I think Rob Jones is the best fullback we've had since the Prem started. ****, for that one season he was the best left back we've had too.

I'm probably going to get panned for this, but I've said it before and it applies to our current situation, but Johnson is at his best going forward, defensively he is decent but it's not his strength. In my opinion he plays best when there is a defensive minded fullback on the opposite side, as he has more freedom to go forward knowing that the other fullback can tuck in and the CBs can move across a little while he gets back into position. With an attacking fullback on the opposite side, he tends to be the one that sits more which limits his game and hence his performances suffer, I think this is the case when he plays RB and Enrique is LB and it's certainly been the case when Cissokho plays. In the Villa game Johnson was effectively playing as a 3rd CB and hence his performance was poor.

I think if we were to have a decent LB who could actually defend then I think we would see an improvement in Johnson's performances, whether he would get back to where he was at his best I don't know, but I think he would be better than what he's been showing recently.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If we are talking full backs, from the EPL era,who were outstanding for us for one season before illnbess or injury took a toll, then Markus Babbel would be another shout. He was excellent defending and easily as good going forward.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Arbeloa was the best fullback we had in recent times. Had Messi in his pocket that time. Criminal that we sold him for only £5m.

Babbel was a centreback when we signed him, but he was probably the best fullback I have seen for that one season before he got ill. Truly remarkable the luck we have had at right back. Jones and Heggem. Finnan was another solid player. That was a formidable defence we had for that period of time, and all done very cheaply. How things change.
