He has been the weakest link of our team this season (Out of the usual starting 11), but I'm not saying that to shame him. Just everybody else has played to such a high standard. I know he can play at a high level but is he really delivering it on a regular basis? I wouldn't say he is anywhere near a liability but I think he needs strong competition for his position next season.

You're all crazy if you think Flannagan isnt good enough to be a starter. He's pretty much the only full back we've had in forever who actually puts in more than he's expected for the team and he didnt cost us a thing. Unlike the rest who sometimes look like they cant be arsed or just look confused half the time. He's a definite starter, hes pretty excellent for his age, and he will be a key part of the team for many years to come.

Yes. One of my favourite players. I love his attitude and tough tackling.Originally posted by Liverpool View PostMe
If you were going assemble a 23 man squad for the start of next season, would he be in the starting eleven?Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Buy a good left back and provide competition. There's enough games for two players and the one performing best plays more regular. If that's the new guy, so be it. I think as well as ability, attitude and desire is very important. Its imperative the team continues to have a local heartbeat.Originally posted by Liverpool View PostSo with Aly off and Enrique dead, would be buying a left back who isnt good enough to start or be playing Flanagan for 60 odd games?Always borrow money from a pessimist. He was amazing when he broke on to the scene then went off the boil that no championship side were interested
and his progress wont continue to be a straight line.
Also the refs have been quite lenient with him when it comes to soft tackles I don't think he'll get that next year, so I imagine lots of yellows, throw in a missed time cruncher and he's out for three.
And for all his enthusiasm his positioning is a bit off, he's too keen on ball watching then holding his ground/player.

Sounds like you are being a little over critical. Strong tackles always run the risk, however what's the alternative? Be a pussy and make it non contact? Name me one full back that doesn't get caught out of position occasionally let alone an inexperienced one.Originally posted by Liverpool View PostHe was amazing when he broke on to the scene then went off the boil that no championship side were interested

I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Yet when he's out we're more likely to drop points. Now admitedly that may be as much to do with lack of a quality replacement, but the fact that our points total is better when he's in the team suggests he can't be the weak link.Originally posted by RedRum View PostHe has been the weakest link of our team this season (Out of the usual starting 11), but I'm not saying that to shame him.
