Not thrilled at the thoughts of Warnock back at LFC, he is better than The Konch (not hard really) and a better 'defender' than Johnson but he is still an average run of the mill player, and IMO would represent yet another stop gap player in a position that really needs to be nailed down.

Well if it was only 18 minutes, Diouf still ripped Johnson apart.
Glen Johnson has always been a liability defensively, and at 26, that won't change.
He doesn't have the positional sense, the intelligence and the discipline to be a good DEFENDER.
Liverpool 1 (0) - 2 (1) Chelsea
Owen 79 (p)
Veron 25
Hasselbaink 87
At Anfield on 17-08-2003
Liverpool: Dudek, Carragher, Henchoz (Finnan, 70 ) , Hyypia, Riise, Kewell, Murphy, Biscan (Baros, 70 ) , Cheyrou (Diouf, 55 ) , Owen, Heskey
Subs not used: Kirkland,Le Tallec,
Chelsea: Cudicini, Johnson ( Gallas, 73 ) , Terry, Desailly, Bridge, Gronkjaer, Geremi, Veron, Lampard, Duff ( Cole, 75 ) , Gudjohnsen ( Hasselbaink, 45 )
Subs not used: Ambrosio, Forssell,
Just to be clear in case it needs pointing out (I suspect it does), Spit the dog casme on after 55 minutes, Johnson was taken off after 73.
So lets get this straight, you are basing some of your thoughts on his defensive ability on 18 minutes of a debut at 19 yrs old, against a player who was fresh whereas he was 55 mins into his debut? Are you really saying that or am I misinterpreting something?

Kelly's been brought through a system in an environment he is comfortable with. Also thats not taking the maturity of people at formative ages into account. Some people have a lot of growing up to do at 18/19. Some are adults already.Originally posted by Rudo View PostHe was 19, not much younger than Kelly is now.

Environment ffs, Chelsea bought him when he was 19 for £6million, yes £6million for a 19 year oldOriginally posted by Daniel Torres View PostKelly's been brought through a system in an environment he is comfortable with. The fact is, you can see Kelly is a proper defender even at his tender age, whereas with Johnson the writing's been on the wall for years and years now.
