He doesn't need to be an excellent defender. He just needs a system which maximises his ability to come from deep and attack. The rest is irrelevant and would be an argument worth its worth in salt only in a Roy Hodgson tactical dispostion.

But he is, just that his forte isn't in sitting tight and defend. He's got an excellent balance in his game though, he's better at defending that many people would give him credit for. He just needs to pick up his moments when he can attack. It's a very specialist and very difficult position to master. Players of his ilk are a rare breed.

He is much more comfortable on the left now than when Kenny initially put him on that side but that doesn't mean that he is better as LB than as RB. He's attack minded when he plays on the right and offers very little if any of that on the left. Also the same can be said about his defending.

Anyways he had a very good game today.

Glen Johnson is one of our superstars. I wouldn't swap him for any other right back in the world apart from maybe Dani Alvez. Actually I wouldn't even as Dani Alvez is a cheating c*nt.

I'd chuck Raul in there as well - the movement between Maxi, Suarez, Raul and Dirk yesterday was sensational - could have easily had a couple more
