Raul is close, very close but for the position he plays, I wouldn't say he's one of the best around while the others on the list are for me.

I can't think of many better players in the premiership at the moment playing off the front man (form anyway).

Raul had a great season thus far and if he continues to adjust to PL style of football, that is, toughen up and improve his tackling he really could be an outstanding footballer.

We've got 5 really classy players (for now)and we need to hold onto them:

          Reina
          Agger
          Johnson
          Gerrard
          Suarez
The thing about Johnson is that he is a good player but he, like Alves, makes extra demands of the rest of the defence and the defensive midfielder. Barca often accomodate it by letting Busquets drop in as an auxiliary CB. If we intend to have Johnson as first choice fullback we need to get the right blend of defensive players around him.

At the minute I think a real problem in our squad is the lack of balance with few units of players that work together to get the best out of one another. Carragher ageing isn't helping in terms of building a defense for the future as at the minute none of the other players we have are good enough at organising to replace him.

smart footballer, the movement and runs he made caused all sorts of issues yesterday - have to say the front 4 yesterday were awesome with the way they moved around and created space.

It's true but I'm also talking on a global scale too.

I'm a big fan but you can understand why he doesn't make my list of galacticos (just yet)

I can't see that being a Mourinho move. Perhaps Valdano was interested or it was paper talk - once someone thinks of a rumour in January there seems to be a fair chance of it getting a life of it's own.

Sure, i'm not suggesting it is remotely true, just that if it were true we'd have to consider it carefully. If someone offered what we paid, I would hope we bite their hand off. All ifs though.

I couldn't agree more. His is very, very intelligent player and one of few that gives us some creativity. I knew he was a good player but I never thought that he'll be this good this fast. Still he can improve quite a bit.

                        Maicon, Lahm, Ivanovic?

Personally i think that there is a serious lack of quality full backs in the world today. Anyways i thought Johnson was excellent yesterday. Defenders should be able to defend first and foremost, he did that superbly yesterday so credit where credit is due even though i'm not his biggest fan.

Forget Alves etc, I'd swap him for Kelly at RB when he's fit again.

Alves is great going forward but an appalling RB IMO.

Unless they get a lot of goals or assists, it’s a position where it’s hard to stand out. Keepers, defenders and DM’s usually get the credit for good defensive performances and attackers naturally get the credit for goals. Even if you were to pick an all time greatest 11, I’m sure everyone could offer loads of suggestions for different players in different positions but I could take a guess that most full backs would be restricted probably to the obvious Brazilians and maybe Maldini or Thuram.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
