He was Englands best player for me last night, defensively sound and looked to get forward whenever he could. Just a shame he had the completely ineffective Milner ahead of him.

      Good question.

      Good answer.

We've had so many good rightbacks in the last fifteen years (and it's a shame about the likes of Jones, Heggem and Babbel with their injuries). My preference out of our most recent three would be:

      Johnson > Finnan > Arbeloa

I liked Finnan, I found it odd that Rafa initially seemed desperate to replace him, firstly with Josemi and then Kromkamp.

Yeah Rafa never seemed to trust (for want of a better word) him in the early days. Proved him wrong though and he was quality.

Shame he retired too young but he was poor in his last season.

We've been very lucky with Right Backs really.

              Much more so than leftbacks.

Overall Johnson but Arbeloa was a better man marker. Both better fullbacks than they are often given credit for.

By far and away he was MOTM. He is quality

How much did Rafa pay for the first choice right back of the World and European champions? £2m was it?

That doesn't get mentioned often by those vile Hodgsonite lackeys in the meejah.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

As a defensive fullback to mark someone out of the game Arbeloa was fantastic, he was also decent going forward. However as an attacking fullback Johnson is better. I guess it depends on how you want to play
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I've been arguing with a few dicks recently who think Johnson is "total ****" and that it's a "joke" that he's in the squad. Clearly they just don't pay any attention.

Played well again last night. Ribery caused him few problems, he defended well and got forward pretty well too. He's a very good full back and anyone who disagrees is wrong.
Opinion doesn't come in to it! (not being sarcastic)

He's class and if people think he's ****e well.. :insertfamilyfortunesbuzzer:

Tough one, seriously can't split them. Loved Arbeloa for his link up down the right and his defensive play, but Glen is a beast going forward at times, he's been lacking that I think a little bit recently but he's improved massively at defending in that time.

I think Arbeloa has it down in defence, a slicker ball control and real swagger. But Glen has a fantastic engine, good crossing and is dangerous on both feet. He can also score fantastic goals. Two different types of players and I'd love to have both of them.

Johnson is much better all round in the PL imo.
