Cunt had a meltdown, RT'd it and tried to whip up his City followers into ripping into me - which several did. To a man they were all laughing at me and trying to belittle me. It's pathetic
    Unbelievable.

Some of my gooner mates have started to acknowledge that he is a class act and better than Jenkinson. Karl ****ing Jenkinson, who Adrian Durham (Talk****e presenter) said was the best RB in the land.

I have had exactly the same with a Gooner on Twitter - said Johnson was wank and the best RB around was Jenkinson
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think a lot of people just form an impression and either refuse to change it, don't see them play enough to be able to change it, or more often than not suffer a mix of the two. I get that and we all do it to some degree, but it's amazing how blind some idiots can be to how relatively baseless their opinions are.

They still have the perception is he is good going forward but dodgy defensively which he may have been a good few years ago but not any more.

He is the most solid right back in the league with Zabaleta coming in 2nd and the rest a good way behind.

              Meh, he's a good athlete.

He's been brilliant all season. Used to be a liability at the back but is as solid as anybody and the best going forward in the league

We did it with the 'arrogant' Sturridge. I also thought Roy Hodgson was a decent fella to before he came to Anfield.

You spend so much time on your own time if some **** pundits force such opinions on you, you just tend to get swept along with it as it doesnt really effect your team.

Such a shame for Glen though as he genuinely is top class, Maybe if he starts shagging a pop star and shooting trainees then people will have a different opinion.

I'd rather he kept on doing what he's doing without the recognition. At least for now. Will keep his head size in check, and keep managers under-estimating him in games.

Re: Sturridge and Hodgson. As you say, we may well have formed flawed impressions of them. It's the level of certainty you hold in that opinion that matters too, though. Whatever impression we had formed, only a complete idiot would have been so certain of it to demand they were right in the face of disagreement from people better placed to judge.

Reading some of the posts about him on the first page

I'm glad the rest of the world don't rate him because if they did we'd struggle to keep hold of him

Not a chance he played LB yesterday, as 'Dani Alves' a performance the Premier League has seen and I don't think that's going over the top.

28 now and showing no signs of slowing down, big boots to fill when he eventually does leave/slow down.

But he wasn't. He may have made the odd mistake like plenty of defenders do or was maybe caught upfield when attacking, but he was certainly never anything like the 'liability' people made him out to be. He was unfairly targeted by some sections of the media IMO and his mistakes exaggerated and often unfairly highlighted.

Tellingly, he never considered himself a bad defender, nor did the many top class managers that signed him, tried to sign him or picked him for England.

Also, a good general rule of thumb in football is to completely disagree with everything Paul Merson says. So that was the last piece of evidence I needed to know Glen was a decent defender.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Didn't he start his career at CB too? Maybe he can go back there in his mid-30s when he can't run anymore and be the best ball-playing centre-half in the world
