Disecting his (in my opinion) recent poor performances is one thing but hurling abuse directly at him is nobodies right. Whether professional footballer, shop assistant or whatever your job is
I did not say it was a person's right to abuse another. I said it is cruel and is a sad fact of life. Twitter allows for somebody to abuse at a safe distance. I'm not a fan of many of the social media sites these days. It seems to produce more negativity than positivity.

Nothing selective about it, they said about the CB's not pushing up but they have focusing on Sahko more so than Skrtel over the past few weeks. Skrtel has had an outstanding season in a terrible backline.

Johnson had a good first half, said it myself ihn the match thread. But form the second half onward he had a mare, got worse as game went on and pressure was put on him.

You will be very much in the minority if you don't think Johnson was at fault, Carra clearly pointed this out & seemingly most on here agree. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree
I've just watched it again. Not true, Johnson is mentioned as are the entire defence in specific moments and as a whole, the defence as a unit is blamed.

My overall point is that give his (and flanno's) License to attack the FB's are left exposed. When the game breaks down they have to get back fast having been playing as wingers - and this is where mistakes happen.

This is how we set up, so fair enough, but the amount of our play that goes down the right is massive, look how often Johnson is on the ball looking to make something happen (mainly it doesn't, but show me a RB who does) and if we lose the ball to a team who can break quickly he is going to have to run 70/80 yards to get back. It has happened all season but we have been often so good going forward it doesn't matter. It is a system issue, not a player issue. GJ may not be the best RB out there, but few could match the work rate the way we set up. It is simplistic in the extreme to say 3 mistakes 5 goals, there is a bigger picture here.

Anyway. Johnson Johnson schmonson. I'm off to bed.

This is part of the reason why I can't see us playing as attacking a style next year, I think the full backs are the obviously place to try and tighten up
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Shame to see some twisting what Carra has said to stick the knife in.

Our defensive record was excellent when he come in last season, 16 starts, 13 conceded, 8 clean sheets.

Could have prevented that 2nd goal... ended up handing it to them.

Diving in like a school boy and let the player to run right past him... then manages to get back and then backs off and lets him walk in the the box and pass for the goal.

Shocking defending. Either take him out on the halfway line and take a yellow, or jockey the player out wide and pressure him into a mistake.

We should just shut with that player bashing thing really. It's **** especially after they've given their all.

I don't think that saying that he's not good enough any more or saying he's had a **** game is player bashing, they're valid points. I don't like that not fit to wear the shirt nonsense or unwarranted abuse but if they're not good enough or a liability you have to be able to say so, surely.

Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but he was one of our best players last night. It's one of the most difficult positions to get right and there aren't many right backs out there as good as Johnson.

This isn't a one-off for Glen though. He's not as good as he used to be and no longer reliable in that position. If we are going to challenge next year we can't have him there playing the way he has been. And the champions league will expose those kind of weaknesses in no time. He's been a good servant but it's time for a change.
