When on form he's brilliant, the problem is he'll put in one good performance and follow it up with 4 average/poor displays, he's been doing that for a long time now. When you consider he's England's first choice RB and on 100k a week that's nowhere near good enough and he turns 30 in a a couple of weeks so he's only going to continue declining, now's the time to move him on IMO.

Haha, I was gonna let it lie, but I was getting a 'your on your own' feel from the replies, so I checked back to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and only took 5 mins to read and quote. It wasn't even selective quoting, ignoring the negative posts, every post over those dates alluded to the same thing. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

People tend to have extremely short memory's. It depends on the player though. Some guys can go through months of ****ty performances and no one will batter an eyelid. Others whom aren't so popular will have people on their back after 2 or 3 consecutive sub par games and all the good work they've done forgotten and discarded.

Batter an eyelid? Do you deep fry and serve with chips?
I think the reason some players seem to get a bye is less out of personal preference for them and more out of the strength of their prior quality and/or lack of impact on the team of their loss of form.
Those who do judge on personal preference tend to be obvious, and are usually goaded for it. Est being est

He is a top earner which should accommodate the bar and expectations we set. As DWW said the injury set him back. I think it's fair to say that he has to deliver this season. I don't think he can coast another season without consequence. Good speed and good skill but the past year or 18 months the end product has been poor.
I like him and hope he get's back on the horse. I think a sale is out of the question with the wages he commands in the current contract. That's the issue we have with Agger now. 90.000 a week for an injury prone 30 year old CB - any takers?
We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.
